Alright, so the other day I was chilling with my kids, and we were trying to decide on a movie to watch. My youngest, she’s a huge Disney fan, bless her heart, she suggested we watch something that came out in 2014, ’cause apparently, that’s when she turned five, and she wanted to relive her “golden year” or something. So I thought, “Sure, why not? Let’s see what Disney was cooking up back then.”

First thing I did was grab my phone and hit up Google. Just typed in “Disney movies 2014” and boom, a whole bunch of stuff came up. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. I mean, who knew there were so many Disney flicks released in a single year?
I started scrolling through the lists, and man, it brought back some memories. I vaguely remember taking the kids to see some of these, but others were totally new to me. It’s crazy how time flies, you know? You blink, and suddenly your little ones are obsessed with movies that came out a decade ago.
So there I was, clicking around and trying to make sense of it all. It was a fun little trip down memory lane. I saw they had that “Muppets Most Wanted,” I remember that one being pretty funny. Then there was “Maleficent” with Angelina Jolie, which was a big deal at the time. We actually dressed up as Maleficent that Halloween. Good times. And of course, how could I forget “Big Hero 6”? That movie was huge! We still have a Baymax plushie somewhere in the house.
Sorting It All Out
After a bit of digging, I figured I’d make a list to keep things straight. Here’s what I came up with for the major Disney movies released in 2014:
- Muppets Most Wanted
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- Million Dollar Arm
- Maleficent
- Planes: Fire & Rescue
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
- Big Hero 6
- Into the Woods
It’s wild to think all those movies came out in the same year. And that’s not even counting the smaller releases or the ones from their other studios. Disney was definitely busy in 2014.
Anyway, after all that, we ended up watching “Big Hero 6” again. It’s just such a heartwarming and fun movie, you can’t go wrong with it. And the kids loved it, so that’s all that really matters, right?

It was a fun little exercise, though. Made me realize how much Disney content we’ve consumed over the years. They’ve been a big part of our family movie nights, that’s for sure. I did some digging on their history as a studio and found that in the summer of 1923, Walt Disney arrived in Hollywood. He had a short called “Alice’s Wonderland” and pitched this hybrid animation as a pilot. Maybe someday I’ll go see if I can find that short to watch. Might be cool to see how far they have come.
So yeah, that’s my little story about digging into Disney’s 2014 movie lineup. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings!
