Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… Kaguya Figure thing, whatever it is. My grandson showed me some pictures, said it’s popular with young folks. Looks like a fancy doll to me, but hey, what do I know?
So, this Kaguya, she’s from some cartoon, right? My grandson calls it “anime.” These youngsters and their fancy words! Anyways, this Kaguya girl, she’s apparently a big deal. They make all sorts of figures of her, like, little statues, I guess. Big ones, small ones, some even dressed like bunnies! Can you believe that? A bunny! When I was young, we played with rocks and sticks, not no bunny-dressed dolls.
Now, from what I gather, there’s all these companies makin’ these figures. Banpresto, that’s one name I heard. Then there’s Max Factory, they make somethin’ called a “Figma Action Figure.” Sounds complicated. Probably costs a pretty penny too. My grandson was mumblin’ about “scales,” said somethin’ about one-fourth scale. Land sakes, what’s that even mean? Is it like, one-fourth the size of a real person? These things are confusing!
- One company is Banpresto, they make Kaguya figures.
- Another company is Max Factory, they make something called Figma Action Figures.
- Some figures are big, some are small, some are even dressed like bunnies.
He showed me some pictures on that little shiny box he carries around, a “smartphone,” he calls it. Some of them figures are real pretty, I gotta admit. Big eyes, fancy clothes. But honestly, I don’t get it. Why would anyone spend so much money on these things? My grandson said some of them cost hundreds of dollars! Hundreds! Back in my day, you could buy a whole cow for that much!
He was tellin’ me about release dates too, like October 23rd for one of ’em. Like it’s some kinda big event. Folks are pre-ordering them, he says. Pre-ordering! Means you pay for it before you even get it! That just sounds crazy to me. But I guess that’s how things are these days.
And the places you buy these things… “Amazon,” he said. Sounds like a jungle to me. Then there’s other stores, online stores, he calls ’em. You just click a button and poof, it shows up at your door. Magic, I tell you, pure magic. We used to have to walk miles to get anything, rain or shine. Now these youngsters just sit on their behinds and click buttons.

These Kaguya figures, they’re all dressed up in different outfits too. School uniforms, fancy dresses, even that bunny suit I mentioned. My grandson said it’s because she wears different clothes in that cartoon show. Seems like a lot of fuss over a cartoon character, if you ask me. But hey, to each their own, I always say.
He tried to explain to me why people like them. Said it’s about collecting, about having something you love. He said some people even pose them, take pictures, and share them online. Imagine that! Taking pictures of dolls! But I guess it’s no different than collectin’ stamps or coins, like some folks do. It’s just a different way of… well, I don’t know what it is, but they seem to enjoy it.
So, there you have it. My take on this whole Kaguya Figure business. It’s a bunch of fancy dolls from a cartoon, cost a lot of money, and young folks seem to love ‘em. Me? I’ll stick to my gardenin’. At least you get somethin’ useful outta that, like tomatoes and beans. But hey, if it makes them happy, who am I to judge?
Anyways, that’s about all I know about this Kaguya thing. Don’t ask me no more questions, ’cause my head’s already spinnin’!
