Well now, you wanna know about movies like that Tarzan fella, huh? That wild boy raised by apes? I reckon there’s a few of ’em out there. Always liked a good jungle story myself, reminds me of the time my old man… well, never mind that. Let’s stick to the movies.

Movies Like Tarzan, You Say?
See, Tarzan, he’s a special one. Swinging through trees, yelling like a banshee, all muscles and whatnot. But there’s other movies, you know, with that same kind of wild spirit. Some funny, some serious, some just plain silly.
- George of the Jungle (1997): Now this one, this one’s a hoot! This fella, George, he’s clumsy as a newborn calf, but he’s got a good heart. Swings on vines, talks to animals, just like Tarzan, but dumber than a box of rocks. Good for a laugh, that’s for sure. My grandkids, they love this one. Always giggling at that George bumping into trees.
They made a sequel too, you know, George of the Jungle 2. Wasn’t as good as the first, if you ask me. Kinda like them second helpings at the church potluck, never quite as tasty.
- Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) and all them old-timey Tarzan movies: These are the real deal, the originals, kinda like your grandma’s old recipes. Black and white, mind you, but they got that classic jungle adventure feel. This fella, Johnny Weissmuller, he was the Tarzan back then. Strong as an ox, he was. They made a bunch of these movies, so you got plenty to watch if you like that old-timey stuff.
Then there’s them animated ones. Disney, they made a Tarzan (1999) movie, with all that fancy singing and dancing. Pretty good, I gotta say, even for an old lady like me. The music’s catchy, and the story, well, it’s Tarzan, but with more… feeling, I guess you could say.
And wouldn’t you know it, they even made a Tarzan II (2005), straight to video it was. About Tarzan as a young’un, finding his place in the jungle and all that. Kids like it, keeps ’em quiet for a while.
Looking for More Jungle Adventures?

Now, if you’re looking for movies like Tarzan, but not necessarily about Tarzan, well, there’s a whole heap of them. You got your adventure movies, your survival movies, your movies about folks getting lost in the wilderness.
Think about it, movies where people gotta fend for themselves, you know? Like that Cast Away fella, stuck on an island with a volleyball for a friend. Or maybe that Jungle Book movie, about that boy Mowgli raised by wolves. Similar idea, just different animals, different jungle.
There’s even some that are more… you know… fantasy-like. Like Avatar, with them blue people and their jungle planet. Or even that King Kong fella, a big ape, just like Tarzan’s ape family, but, well, a whole lot bigger.
Finding These Movies
Now, where to find these movies? Well, you got your Netflix, your Amazon, your iTunes, all them fancy places. Or you can go to the video store, if they still got those things around. Me, I just wait for them to show up on TV. Saves me the trouble of fiddling with them remotes and whatnot.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of movies like Tarzan. Some old, some new, some funny, some serious. Just gotta find the ones you like. And if you don’t like ’em, well, turn ’em off and find somethin’ else to watch. Life’s too short to watch bad movies, that’s what I always say.

More Than Just Swinging on Vines
You see, it ain’t just about swingin’ on vines and yellin’ like a wildcat. It’s about that wildness inside, that spirit of adventure. It’s about findin’ your place in the world, even if that place is a jungle full of apes, or a desert island with a volleyball, or even just your own backyard, pretendin’ you’re Tarzan, swingin’ on the clothesline.
So go on, find yourself a good jungle movie, grab some popcorn, and let yourself get lost in the adventure. You might just find a little bit of Tarzan in yourself, too.
