Alright, guys, so the other day I had this kinda random idea pop into my head. I wanted to see how many songs I could find that had female names in the title. You know, like “Jolene” or “Billie Jean”. Seemed like a fun little challenge, right?

First thing I did was hit up my own music library. I use Spotify, so I just started scrolling through my playlists and liked songs. I was like, “Okay, ‘Sara’ by Fleetwood Mac, check. ‘Roxanne’ by The Police, check.” I was just kinda making a mental list as I went.
Then I realized my own collection was pretty limited. I needed to branch out. So, I jumped on Google and typed in something like “songs with girl names in title”. Man, did that open up a can of worms! I found all these huge lists on websites. Some were helpful, some were just, like, a mess.
My Method
I grabbed a pen and paper– yeah, old school, I know – and started jotting down the ones that stood out. It quickly became clear I had to set some rules.
- Rule number one: The name had to be in the actual title. No digging through lyrics to find a random mention of “Mary”.
- Rule number two:It has to be human * is a song called “Sweet Sweet Betsy From Pike”,but, Betsy here is the name of a cow.
- Rule number three: I was going for fairly common names, not, like, super obscure ones.
I spent a good chunk of time going through these lists, cross-referencing them with my own memory, and adding songs to my own growing list. It was kinda like detective work, piecing it all together.
I even asked some friends for suggestions. That was cool because it sparked some conversations about music, and I discovered some songs I’d totally forgotten about! One of my friends reminded me of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse, which is a total banger.
The Result
After all that, I ended up with a pretty solid list. It’s not exhaustive, of course, there are probably hundreds, maybe thousands, of songs out there that fit the bill. But I felt like I’d given it a good go. And I discovered some cool new tunes along the way, which is always a win.

It was a fun, kinda silly project, but it reminded me how much I love just exploring music and finding new things. Sometimes the most random ideas can lead to the best discoveries, you know?
