Well, now, folks, y’know, there’s a story about two big names in the music world—Elvis Presley and John Lennon. They both were mighty famous in their own right, but their paths didn’t exactly cross the way folks might’ve thought. These two legends met only once, and let me tell ya, it didn’t end too well. It was a bit of a disappointment, for both of ’em.

It happened in 1965, on the 27th of August. The Beatles, all four of ’em, went to meet Elvis. Now, the way it went down, it wasn’t like some grand celebration. In fact, it was more of a cold meeting. Elvis wasn’t too pleased with the whole thing, and I reckon, neither was John Lennon. It was just awkward, I suppose. The two didn’t hit it off, and there was some tension in the air.
From what I’ve heard, John Lennon had a sharp tongue. He didn’t mince words, and his remarks didn’t sit too well with Elvis. In fact, he made Elvis mad right from the start. I reckon it must’ve been a sight to see, but it wasn’t too pleasant. Elvis, well, he wasn’t known for holding his tongue either, and after that meeting, he didn’t have kind words for John or the Beatles. He was mad enough to hold a grudge, and it stayed with him for a long time. He never forgot that encounter.
Now, let’s talk about the music part of things. Elvis, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, was a big influence on many artists, including John Lennon. John, being the musical genius that he was, had a lot of respect for Elvis, or at least, he did at first. He even said that Elvis had inspired him, just like he had done for so many other young folks trying to make music. But after that meeting, things changed. John was disappointed. It wasn’t just the way things went down between them, but something else had shifted in John’s mind. Elvis, in his eyes, wasn’t quite the man he had hoped he would be.
There’s even talk that Elvis hated the Beatles altogether after that. He wasn’t too fond of the Beatles’ success, and some folks say he didn’t like John Lennon much after that meeting. Y’see, Elvis, he had a whole different view on music. He wasn’t one to care much for the new wave that was taking over the world, the kind of music the Beatles were bringing in. He was a rock ‘n’ roll man through and through, and those Beatles boys, well, they were changing things in ways he didn’t understand.
As for John Lennon, it’s said he never got to meet Elvis again after that. He did respect Elvis’ music for what it was, but in the end, their personal encounter left a sour taste. It didn’t help that, just before the Beatles sang their hit “Hey Jude” one day, John joked around by singing a few bars from Elvis’ song “It’s Now or Never.” It was just a parody, y’know, a little jab. But some say it was John’s way of showing what he thought about Elvis, the man.
There’s also a funny little thing about John Lennon and his love for cats. Now, don’t get me wrong, he was a big-time rock star, but the man had a soft spot for cats. He even had a cat when he was a young boy, and guess what it was called? Elvis! I guess even though they had their differences, John still had a little piece of Elvis with him in some way.

But all said and done, Elvis and John Lennon, they had their moments, but they just didn’t see eye to eye. They came from different worlds, y’see. Elvis had already made his mark on the music world, and John and the Beatles were just getting started. The two didn’t really understand each other, and it was a bit of a sad chapter in the story of rock ‘n’ roll. Elvis, in his own way, had changed the world with his music in 1956, and the Beatles, well, they came along in 1964 and took it even further. But somewhere along the way, their paths just didn’t line up right.
Now, as for the legacy of these two men, there’s no denying they both left their marks on the music world. Elvis, with his smooth voice and swagger, and John Lennon, with his sharp wit and revolutionary ideas. They didn’t get along, but the music they made, well, it still lives on today. And that’s something nobody can take away from them.
