Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this fella, Colicchie. He was a rapper, you know, like them young folks listen to. Folks sayin’ he’s dead, and it’s a darn shame, it is. Folks also sayin’ he had a real hard life. Grew up without a pa, just his ma and grandparents. His ma, bless her heart, she had her own troubles, seems like.
Now, I ain’t no doctor, but from what I hear, this Colicchie fella, his real name was Chas Smith, he battled with the devil’s brew, you know, drugs. Years and years of it, they say. Tried to quit, too, poor soul. Folks say he’d try to get clean, then fall right back into it. Must’ve been a terrible struggle, like tryin’ to climb out of a muddy ditch with no rope.
- Heard tell he overdosed a bunch of times. That stuff just eats away at ya, body and soul.
- They say he started rappin’ in 2005. Maybe tryin’ to make somethin’ of himself, ya know?
- Then he got famous in 2017 with a song called “Drug Addiction.” Imagine that, singin’ about the very thing that was tryin’ to kill him. Brave, I guess, or maybe just plain desperate.
This here Colicchie, he wasn’t shy about sharin’ his troubles. He put it all in his music, the good and the bad. Folks say his songs were about his own fight with the drugs, tryin’ to get better, tryin’ to find hope. Some folks even said his music helped them with their own struggles. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Even when he was down in the dumps, he was tryin’ to lift others up.
It reminds me of that other rapper, what’s his name? The one with the ma, Debbie. Yeah, Eminem. His ma had a tough time too, and he sang about it. Seems like these rappers, they go through a lot and then they tell the whole world about it in their songs. Maybe it helps them heal, or maybe it just helps them make a livin’. I don’t rightly know.
But this Colicchie fella, his story is a sad one. All that talent, all that potential, just gone. Makes you think, don’t it? Makes you think about the choices we make and the paths we take. And it makes you think about how addiction, that darn devil’s brew, can just snatch a life away, quick as a snappin’ turtle.
I heard some folks sayin’ his heart just gave out, wore down from all the years of fightin’ that addiction. Others sayin’ it was one last overdose that finally did him in. Either way, it’s a tragedy. A young man, gone too soon. It just goes to show you, life ain’t fair. You can be famous, you can have talent, but that don’t mean nothin’ when the devil comes callin’.
And that’s about all I know about this Colicchie fella. A rapper from Pittsburgh, fought a hard battle, and lost. It’s a sad story, but maybe it can be a lesson too. A lesson about the dangers of drugs and the importance of takin’ care of yourself. You only get one life, you know? You gotta make it count. And if you’re strugglin’, reach out. Don’t let that devil drag you down.
I tell ya, this world’s got a lot of sadness in it. But even in the sadness, there’s gotta be some hope. Gotta be some folks who can learn from this and maybe, just maybe, make a better choice for themselves. That’s all we can hope for, ain’t it?
