Black Love on TV
These days, you see all kinds of folks on that television box. Back in my day, it weren’t like that. But now, oh, they got all sorts. See that love can be strong, can last through anything.
First couple that pops in my head, oh, they was somethin’ else. That man, he was a preacher, I think. Always talkin’ about doin’ what’s right, standin’ up for folks. Her? Coretta Scott King, Strong woman, she was. Stood right by him, even when things got tough. You know, it ain’t easy being married to a man like that. But she did it. They was a team, those two. A real team. They was like that couple from down the road, what was their name, Cleovis and Arwilda, married since 1939. Can you believe that?

But they loved each other, you could tell. Made you feel good watchin’ ’em. Reminded me of my own husband, God rest his soul. Always up to somethin’, that one. But a good heart, he had. Just like that fella on TV.
