Well, let me tell ya, some of them album covers, they just make ya wanna scratch yer head and ask, “What in tarnation were they thinkin’?” I seen a whole bunch of ’em in my day, and some are so bad, they’re almost good, ya know? Like that one with the fella lookin’ like he just got outta the barn, all sweaty and whatnot.
First off, let’s talk about them covers where they try to be all fancy but just end up lookin’ like a dog’s breakfast. You know, the ones with the weird colors and shapes that don’t make no sense. I saw one the other day, looked like someone spilled paint all over it and called it art. Shoot, my grandbaby coulda done better than that! And the singers, sometimes they look like they’re tryin’ too hard to be cool, posin’ all stiff and unnatural. Makes ya wanna tell ’em to just relax and be themselves.
- Then you got the ones that are just plain scary.
- Like that one with the devil lookin’ fella grinnin’ at ya.
- Gave me the shivers, I tell ya.
- Don’t know why anyone would wanna put somethin’ like that on their record.
And don’t even get me started on the ones with the bad outfits. Lord have mercy, some of them singers look like they got dressed in the dark! I seen one fella wearin’ a suit that was so shiny, it coulda blinded ya. And the ladies, sometimes they’re wearin’ so much makeup, they look like clowns. It’s a shame, really, ’cause some of ’em actually got good voices, but you wouldn’t know it from lookin’ at them covers.
Another thing that gets my goat is when they try to be all mysterious and end up just bein’ confusing. You know, the ones with the blurry pictures and the weird symbols. Makes ya wonder if they’re tryin’ to hide somethin’. Maybe they know the music ain’t that good, so they try to distract ya with a fancy cover. Well, it ain’t foolin’ nobody, I tell ya.
And then there’s the covers that are just plain boring. You know, the ones with just the singer’s face on it, lookin’ all serious. Shoot, that ain’t gonna make me wanna buy the record. I wanna see somethin’ interestin’, somethin’ that catches my eye. Give me a picture of a dog, or a horse, or even a nice sunset. Anything’s better than just a plain old face.
But I gotta say, some of them bad covers are kinda funny, ya know? Like that one with the cat wearin’ a hat. Made me chuckle, I tell ya. And sometimes, the bad covers are so bad, they’re actually good. They get people talkin’, and that’s what matters, right? At least, that’s what them city folks tell me.
Now, I ain’t no expert on music or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I like a cover that’s honest and down-to-earth. Don’t try to be somethin’ you ain’t, that’s what I always say. Just be yourself, and let the music speak for itself. That’s the best way to do it, if you ask me.
So, yeah, there’s a whole lotta bad album covers out there, but there’s also some good ones. You just gotta sift through the junk to find the treasures, ya know? And sometimes, even the junk is worth a look, just for a good laugh. So next time you’re at the store, take a gander at them album covers. You might be surprised at what you find. Some are funny, some are scary and some just make you wonder why anyone thought that was a good idea. But hey, that’s what makes life interesting, right? You never know what you’re gonna get.
And let me tell you somethin’ else, them fancy words and all that highfalutin talk don’t make a good album. It’s the music, the heart and soul of it, that matters. A good song can make you wanna dance, make you wanna cry, make you wanna sing along at the top of your lungs. And sometimes, even a bad album cover can’t hide a good song. So don’t judge a book by its cover, as they say, or in this case, don’t judge an album by its cover. Give it a listen, and you might be surprised at what you find.
So there you have it, my two cents on them album covers. Take it or leave it, it don’t matter to me none. I just call it like I see it, ya know? And if that ain’t good enough for ya, well, then that’s just too darn bad.
