You know, I stumbled upon this thing called “Salutation House” in Glen Cove, NY, and I just had to check it out. It’s this big old house, like, really big. Turns out, it was built way back in 1928 or 1929 for some rich guy named Junius Spencer Morgan III.

Getting Started
First, I did what everyone does: I looked it up online. Found out this Morgan dude was related to some big-shot banker. I also saw that it is located on West Island in Glen Cove. Anyway, this Salutation place was his main home. Then, I started planning a trip to Glen Cove, New York. Booked a flight, found a little hotel nearby – the usual stuff.
Exploring the Area
Once I got to Glen Cove, I drove around to get a feel for the place. It’s a pretty town, right on the water. I found out that this house is on the Gold Coast and has 12 bedrooms and 12 baths. I went to the area and saw the huge house. It’s massive!
Visiting the House
The house itself is something else. I mean, 40 rooms? It’s huge! They call it Georgian Colonial style, which basically means it’s fancy and old-looking. The grounds around it are huge, too.

Diving into History
So, I got curious about the history. This Roger H. Bullard guy was the architect. I guess the house changed hands a few times. I read that in the 90s, someone named Samuels went bankrupt, and the house was almost sold for $5.7 million! Some lady named Margo Walker, who is apparently a real estate person and a socialite, ended up buying three of the houses.
Reflecting on the Experience
- It’s crazy to think about how much history is in these old houses.
- Seeing Salutation House in person really puts things into perspective.
- It’s a reminder of how different life was back then.
- It made me think that, how beautiful it is and it has a great history.
Wrapping Up
It was a cool trip. Seeing Salutation House was definitely the highlight. It’s not every day you get to walk around a place with so much history. If you’re ever in Glen Cove, you should check it out. Just don’t expect to see the inside unless you’ve got some serious connections!
What is left behind

In short, I saw this gorgeous old building and wanted to learn everything I could about it. I accomplished my research, went to Glen Cove, New York, to view the house, and discovered all there was to know about its history and prior owners.
