This here “Salad Bowl of Eccentrics” manga, it’s a thing, I tell ya. It’s about this fella, Sousuke Kaburagi. He’s a detective, but not one of them fancy ones. He’s kinda down on his luck, always scraping by. Just like me tryin’ to get them hens to lay more eggs, you know?

One day, this Sousuke, he’s following someone, like detectives do. Sneaking around, peeking in windows. And then, BAM! He runs into this girl named Sara. Now, this Sara, she ain’t from around here. She’s from some other place, some other world, I reckon. Like them stories they tell about folks from the moon. Strange, right?
This manga, it’s got some other folks in it too. Like, that Kōtarō Yamada, he’s the one drawing the pictures. They are ok, I guess. Not like those fancy paintings but they show you what’s going on. And Yomi Hirasaka, he wrote the words. A bunch of words, he wrote. Like a whole field of corn, that many words. And someone named Kantoku, he helped with the pictures, I think.
- This Sousuke, he used to work at some detective place called Kusanagi Detective Agency.
- There’s a girl there, she liked him, I guess. Love, they call it. She was his junior. Like a little chick following a hen.
- 12 episodes, they made. Like 12 eggs in a basket.
I heard some folks talking, saying this Salad Bowl of Eccentrics manga ain’t the best thing since sliced bread. Some other show called “Skip and Loafer”, they say it’s better. I don’t know about that. Never seen it. But they say it’s got good characters, folks you can understand, with their own troubles and such. Like old Mrs. Henderson down the road, always worrying about her rheumatism.
This Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, it’s kinda like them other shows, them “Isekai” ones. That’s what they call ’em. Where folks go to another world. Only this one, it’s a bit better, I guess. Still got some of that silly stuff, though. You know, the kind that makes you roll your eyes. Like when my rooster, Bucky, tries to chase the cat. Makes no sense.
They call this Salad Bowl of Eccentrics a “feel good” show. Like a warm pie on a cold day. Makes you feel all fuzzy inside. But it ain’t got no big story, not really. Just a bunch of little things happening, week after week. Like watching the seasons change. Spring, summer, fall, winter. Then spring again.
Chapter 37, that’s the one I heard about. This fella, Sousuke Kaburagi, still sniffin’ around, I suppose. Probably chasing after that Sara girl. Or maybe trying to find some lost cat. Detectives, they always got something to do. Like me, always got chores to do. Feed the chickens, collect the eggs, mend the fence. Never a dull moment.

This manga, it ain’t perfect. Nothing is, except maybe my apple pie. But it’s something to read, I suppose. If you got nothing better to do. Like waiting for the rain to stop so you can go outside. It will fill the time.
Some folks say it ain’t the best thing this Editio place has put out. They do the words in English, you see. They are ok usually. The words, I mean. But they say this manga, it’s not their best work. Like when I try to make biscuits and they come out all flat. Still good to eat, though.
So, there you have it. This Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, it’s a manga. About a detective and a girl from another world. It’s got some funny parts, some silly parts. It’s like a mix of everything, all thrown together in a bowl. Like a salad, I guess. A salad bowl of eccentrics, just like the name says.
If you like them stories about other worlds and detectives who ain’t too bright, you might like this one. Just don’t expect it to be like them fancy stories with kings and queens and dragons. It’s more like a story about everyday folks, just with a little bit of magic sprinkled in. Like a pinch of salt in your stew. Makes it a little bit more interesting. Now, I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably wondering where their supper is.
