Well, let me tell ya, these fellas with their guitars, they make a whole lotta noise, but some of ’em, they really got somethin’. Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout who’s the best, and that magazine, “Rolling Stones,” they got their own list. Don’t know much about magazines, but I do know what sounds good.

Now, this Jimi fella, Jimi Hendrix they call him, he’s one they all talk about. Said he played like nobody else. Guess he was somethin’ special. They say he was the most skilled and made up new ways to play that thing, the guitar, you know? Folks sayin’ he’s the greatest and all. Influenced a whole bunch of others, they say. Born way back in 1942, in some place called Seattle. Never been there myself, but I hear it’s far from here.
- Makes you wonder, what makes a guitar player so good? Is it the fast pickin’ or the way they make the guitar cry and sing? I reckon it’s a bit of both. Some of these fellas, they just play fast, like they’re in a hurry to get somewhere. But the good ones, they take their time, they make every note count.
There’s other names too, I’ve heard on the radio while I’m makin’ supper. Eric Clapton, they call him “Slowhand,” but don’t let that fool ya, he can make that guitar sing like a bird. And Keith Richards, he’s got that somethin’ special too, that way of makin’ it sound rough and real.
Then there’s Jimmy Page, from that band with all the loud music. Heard folks say he could play just about anything. And Jeff Beck, another one they say was a real wizard with the guitar. Seems like there’s a whole lotta wizards playin’ guitars these days.
- I tell ya, it’s hard to keep track of ’em all. So many names, so many different sounds. But I guess that’s what makes it interesting, right? Everyone’s got their own favorite, and everyone’s got their own reason why.
You got your blues players, your rock and roll players, your country pickers. They all got their own way of doin’ things, but they all got one thing in common: they love that guitar. And you can hear it in their music, that love, that passion.
B.B. King, they called him the king of the blues, and for good reason. He could make that guitar talk, tell a whole story without sayin’ a word. And Chuck Berry, he was the one who got everyone movin’ and shakin’. He made rock and roll what it is, they say.
And let’s not forget the ladies, though they don’t get talked about near as much. There’s Bonnie Raitt, with her slide guitar, smooth as butter. And Joan Jett, tough as nails, playin’ that rock and roll like nobody’s business. They got somethin’ to say too, and they say it loud and clear.

- So, who’s the best? I reckon it’s like askin’ who makes the best apple pie. Everyone’s got their own recipe, their own secret ingredient. But one thing’s for sure, these guitar players, they bring somethin’ special to the world. They make us feel somethin’, and that’s what matters most.
It ain’t just about playin’ fast or loud. It’s about tellin’ a story, makin’ you feel somethin’ in your gut. And these fellas, and the ladies too, they do that real good. They take that guitar and they turn it into somethin’ magic.
So, next time you hear that guitar playin’, take a minute to listen. Listen to the story it’s tellin’. Listen to the feelin’ it’s sharin’. And you’ll understand why these guitar players, they’re somethin’ special. They’re the ones who make the music come alive.
And that Rolling Stones magazine list? Well, it’s just one way of lookin’ at it. There’s plenty of other great guitar players out there, and they all deserve a listen. So go on, turn up the radio and let that music fill your soul.
It don’t matter if they’re on some list or not. What matters is the music they make, and the way it makes you feel. That’s the real truth about guitar players, and that’s all there is to it.
