Alright, alright, settle down ya’ll! Let’s talk about that movie, you know, the one with them fast planes? Yep, Top Gun. I seen it a few times, even though I don’t understand half the flyin’ stuff. But hey, it’s got them handsome fellas and lots of zoomin’ around, so it ain’t all bad.

So, I heard some folks like askin’ all sorts of tricky questions ‘bout this movie. Like a quiz, they call it. Well, I figured, why not? Let’s see if you know your stuff. Don’t worry, I ain’t gonna make it too hard. We ain’t all rocket scientists here, ya know?
First off, easy peasy. What year did that Top Gun movie come out? I ain’t good with years, but I think it was back when my chickens were layin’ real good. So, yeah, 1986. You got that one right? Good for you! If not, well, better luck next time.
Now, who was the big boss man, the director fella? Some fella named Tony somethin’. Scott! Tony Scott. He made the movie, told everyone what to do. Sounded like a tough job, yellin’ at all them actors.
And who were the fellas writin’ the checks, the producers? Don Simpson and Jerry somethin’… Bruckheimer? Yeah, them two. They paid for all them fancy planes and explosions. Musta cost a pretty penny.
- Question: What’s that big ol’ boat the planes land on? You know, the one they keep showin’ at the beginnin’ and the end.
- Answer: An aircraft carrier. They call it a carrier, I guess ‘cause it carries them planes.
Let’s talk about the main fella, that Tom Cruise character. What’s his name in the movie? Maverick. Yeah, that’s it. He’s the one who likes flyin’ fast and breakin’ the rules. A bit of a wild one, that Maverick.
And who’s his buddy, the one who dies? Goose. That was a sad part. Made me cry a little, even though I knew it was just a movie. They were a good team, them two.

Now, here’s a tricky one. What song do they sing in that bar scene? “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’”. Yep, them fellas beltin’ it out. Who knew fighter pilots could sing? Or maybe they just lip-synced. Who knows?
Another question. What’s the name of that school where they teach them young fellas to fly real good? Top Gun school. Or maybe it’s just called Top Gun. I don’t rightly remember. Somethin’ like that.
Okay, one more. What’s Maverick’s call sign in the new movie, the one they made years later? Still Maverick, I think. Some things don’t change, I guess. He’s still flyin’ fast and breakin’ the rules, even as an old fella.
Alright, that’s enough quiz questions for one day. My head’s spinnin’ from all this thinkin’. If you got most of them right, good on ya! You’re a real Top Gun expert. If not, well, don’t worry about it. It’s just a movie, after all. Just enjoy the ride, that’s what I always say.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. They’re squawkin’ somethin’ fierce, probably hungry as can be. And then maybe I’ll watch Top Gun again. It ain’t a bad way to spend an afternoon, even if I don’t understand all the flyin’ lingo.
More Top Gun Trivia, just for fun:

- Who played Iceman?
- What type of aircraft does Maverick fly?
- What is the name of the female instructor in the first movie?
Think about those and see if you can remember! It’s good for the brain, they say. Keeps you sharp, like a tack.
