Okay, so I got this idea stuck in my head: I wanted to make a playlist of songs with “dead” in the title. Sounds kinda morbid, I know, but I thought it’d be interesting. So, here’s how I went about it.

My “Dead” Song Hunt
First, I brainstormed. I just sat down and tried to think of any songs I already knew that fit the bill. I jotted down a couple that came to mind, but my list was pretty short. I knew I needed more.
Next, I hit up Google. I typed in some simple searches like “songs with dead in the title” and “songs about death”. This gave me a bunch of articles and forum threads where other people had already done some of the work. Score!
I spent a good chunk of time clicking through these results, scanning lists, and writing down any titles that looked promising. It was kind of a slow process, lots of scrolling and reading. I mean it takes time to find what you want, I get very distracted.
After I gathered a decent number of titles from my online search, I moved to a music platform. I prefer use Spotify. So I can listen to them and create a public playlist directly. Of course, you can use other streaming services like Apple Music or YouTube Music.
- I typed each song title into the search bar.
- I listened to a bit of each song to make sure it fit the vibe I was going for. Some were too heavy, some were too… not heavy enough.
- If it passed the vibe check, I added it to my new playlist.
I repeated this process for all the songs I’d found. Some were easy to find, others were a bit more obscure and took some digging. Some songs, I couldn’t find at all, bummer!
Finally, I had my playlist! It’s a mix of genres, some old, some new, but they all have one thing in common: that word “dead” in the title. It was a fun little project, and I ended up discovering some cool music I’d never heard before.
