Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make a playlist of songs about flying, you know, that feeling of soaring and freedom. I finally got around to it today, and here’s how it went down.

Brainstorming and Initial List
First, I grabbed a pen and paper – yeah, I’m old school like that – and just started jotting down any song that came to mind that had “fly,” “flying,” “wings,” or anything like that in the title or lyrics. My brain was all over the place, I had some obvious ones, some super cheesy ones, and some I wasn’t even sure fit, It all came together in the end!
The Search Deep Dive
Then, I opened up my laptop and started to search for more ideas, I typed in “best songs about flying” and a million lists popped up. I scrolled through them, adding anything that looked promising to my own handwritten list. It took me time, but I manage to make it work!
Filtering and Categorizing
After that huge brain dump, I had a massive list. Way too many songs! So I started to go through it more carefully. I decided to make it a little more interesting and categorize it, like, I had one for that classic rock kind of vibe, another section for more chill, acoustic stuff, and even a section for songs that were more about, like, metaphorical flying, you know?
- Classic Rock Flyers
- Chill & Acoustic Soaring
- Metaphorical Flight
The Final Playlist
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon refining the list, listening to snippets of songs to make sure they really fit the vibe I was going for. I deleted some, added a few more, and finally ended up with a playlist I was pretty happy with.
The Test Run
The best part? I took my new playlist for a “test flight” – literally! I went for a drive with the windows down, blasting my flying songs, and it was awesome. Exactly the feeling I was hoping for. Mission accomplished!
It’s not perfect, and I’m sure I’ll keep adding to it, but for now, it’s my go-to soundtrack for feeling like I can conquer the world. Or, you know, at least get through the week.
