Okay, so I wanted to get a handle on who’s really killing it on the viola these days. I mean, we all know the big names from the past, but who are the current stars? I figured I’d do some digging and share what I found.
First, I started with a simple search. Just typed in “famous viola players today”. Nothing fancy, just wanted to see what popped up.
The initial results were, well, a bit of a mixed bag. Lots of lists, some blog posts, a few names that kept repeating. I jotted down the names that seemed to appear most often. You know, the ones that multiple sources seemed to agree on.
Then, I decided to get a bit more specific. I started looking up each of those names individually. This is where things got more interesting.
Digging into Youtube
- I checked out YouTube videos. It is very insteresting to watch them play. It’s one thing to read about someone, it’s another to actually see and hear them perform.
- I also read some interviews and articles. I tried to get to konw more their background or something.
I spent a good few hours going down this rabbit hole, watching performances, reading articles.I feel like I did know the field of viola.
It’s cool that There’re some people who are really pushing the boundaries of what the viola can do, it makes me wanna pick up the instrument and try to do something again!
