Okay, so the youth group asked me to put together a movie night. No pressure, right? I wanted to find something that was fun, engaging, and maybe even sparked a little conversation afterward. Here’s how I went about it.

Brainstorming Time!
First, I jotted down some ideas. I thought about what I liked at that age, but also what’s popular now. I made a big, messy list – everything from superhero flicks to classic comedies. It was all over the place!
Narrowing It Down
Next, I started crossing things off. Some movies were too violent, others were too… well, let’s just say they wouldn’t fly with the parents. I needed something generally appropriate, you know?
I Also took age ranges into account!
Checking the Ratings (and Reviews!)
I spent a good chunk of time on websites, reading summaries and, most importantly, parent reviews. This is key! You gotta see what other people are saying about the content. Some movies might seem okay, but then you find out there’s a ton of language or something.
Making a Shortlist
After all that digging, I whittled my list down to a handful of options. I tried to have a variety – a comedy, an adventure, maybe something animated. I wanted to have backups in case one didn’t work out for some reason.
The Final Test
I did check the availabilty of the movies, so I would not get disappointed finally.

The Result
- Firstly, I chose some classic options.
- Secondly, I considered some more recent releases.
It was a bit of work, but totally worth it! I feel good about the movies I picked, and I’m hoping the youth group enjoys them too.
