Well, let me tell ya, there’s this real fun little thing called “Toy Story of Terror” that I reckon folks been talkin’ ’bout, specially come Halloween time. Now, it ain’t a full movie, no ma’am, it’s a short film, a little somethin’ that Pixar put together. It first aired back in 2013, I think, and let me tell you, it sure has a way of gettin’ ya in the spooky mood. Now, this here special ain’t all about jump scares and monsters like you might think. Nope, it’s about a group of toys, y’know, them ol’ friends like Woody and Buzz, who get themselves in a whole heap of trouble. I reckon this is one of them stories that’ll get ya lookin’ twice at your toys after the lights go out!
So, the whole thing kicks off with Bonnie, the little girl who plays with these toys, and her mama goin’ on a road trip. They’re cruisin’ down the highway, mindin’ their own business, when wouldn’t ya know it— pop!—a flat tire on the ol’ car. They end up spendin’ the night in some low-down, roadside motel. Now, most folks wouldn’t think much of it, just another place to lay your head. But, oh no, things start gettin’ a little weird. Bonnie’s toys get to hangin’ out in the motel, when all of a sudden, Mr. Potato Head goes missin’!
Now, you might be thinkin’, well, shoot, how hard could it be to find a ol’ spud in a motel room? But lemme tell ya, they find themselves in the middle of a mystery that’s more than they bargained for. One thing leads to another, and before you know it, they’re caught up in a big ol’ conspiracy. They got to work together to solve the mystery, and trust me, there’s plenty of moments that’ll make your hair stand up, even if you’re watchin’ it with a bunch of kids!
And I gotta say, one thing that really gets me is the hidden Easter eggs in this special. If you’ve watched any of the other Toy Story movies, you might know that Pixar likes to sneak in little secrets, things that reference other stuff, or maybe even a birthday or two from the folks who made it. All them license plates in the Toy Story movies? Yup, they’ve got little clues hidden in ‘em, all connected to the folks who made the film. Ain’t that somethin’!
Now, if you’re watchin’ this special on Disney+, you’re in for a real treat. It’s a perfect little Halloween watch. And I tell ya, it’s the kind of thing that gets you thinkin’ ‘bout all the spooky things in life… like what’s hidin’ behind your closet door, or maybe if your toys have been up to no good when you ain’t around!
If you haven’t seen it yet, well, you best get to it, ‘cause this here special is one of them things that makes Halloween feel just a little bit more fun.
