Well, hello there! You wanna find movies like the ones you already love, huh? It ain’t rocket science, lemme tell ya. It’s like findin’ a good ol’ hen that lays eggs jus’ like the one you already got. Simple as that.

First off, you can jus’ go and use that Google thingy. Yeah, the one everyone’s talkin’ about. Jus’ type in somethin’ like “movies like [movie name]” and see what pops up. Lotsa folks doin’ the same thing, so you’ll find somethin’ for sure. Google knows a lot, more than that ol’ busybody down the street, that’s for sure.
- Type in the movie you like.
- See what Google suggests.
- Easy peasy, right?
Now, there are these fancy websites, too. They call ’em “movie search engines” or somethin’. Sounds complicated, but it ain’t. One of ’em is called “Cinetrii”. You jus’ type in the movie name, and boom! It shows you others. Kinda like when I tell my grandson what kind of pie I like, and he brings me back somethin’ similar. It’s all about what your heart wants. Like findin’ a good man after your first one went off with that floozy from the city, that’s life I guess.
Then there’s this “IMDb” place. Lotsa folks use it. It’s like a big ol’ book about movies. You can find all sorts of stuff there. They got these things called “Keywords.” Like, if you like a movie about cowboys, you can search for that keyword. Or if you like movies about dogs, they got that too. You can even find movies with actors you like. That fella, what’s his name? Oh, you know, the one with the pretty face. You can find his movies too.
There are other ways, you know. Like that “Letterboxd” thing. I don’t know much about it, but my grandson says it’s good for finding movies. And if you are feeling lazy you can try out some of those apps. One of them “Pick a movie for me“, asks you questions like are you happy, neutral or sad so it can find the perfect movie for ya! If these fancy things don’t work, there’s always other people who love movies, them “cinephiles” I guess they call them. You can always ask them for help! Sometimes talking to a real person is better than clickin’ buttons all day.
Now, sometimes movies are like twins. You know, two movies come out at the same time, and they’re kinda the same. Like two peas in a pod. That happens sometimes. So, if you like one, you might like the other. It’s like findin’ two good apples on the same tree. You lucky duck!
And don’t forget, if you really, really like a movie, someone’s probably made a list of others jus’ like it. Like that “Shutter Island” movie. If you like that, there’s a bunch of other movies people have listed to watch next. They even suggest songs sometimes. It’s all a big puzzle, see? One piece connects to the next. And before you know it, you got a whole picture, a whole lotta movies to watch.

Finding similar movies ain’t hard, see? It’s like findin’ a good recipe for apple pie. Once you got one, you can find others that are just as good, or maybe even better. And if you still can’t find a movie, I suggest you go see what that Richard Lester fella has been up to. He made “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Help!”, they are pretty good. So go on, find yourself some good movies, and don’t forget to tell your friends. Sharing is carin’, after all. Just don’t tell that old busybody down the street, she’ll wanna watch them with ya and then she’ll never leave!
And remember if you want to be more specific, you can describe what you’re looking for. Like if you want a movie that makes you cry, or one that makes you laugh till your belly hurts. Or maybe you want a movie about a dog, or a cat, or maybe even a talking pig! Just tell the computer what you want, and it’ll do its best to find it for ya. It’s like magic, but with wires and electricity, whatever that is! Just keep on looking and you will find something real good, just like I found my husband even though he was always losing things.
