Okay, so the other day I was jamming out to some old Blink-182, and it got me thinking, “What other bands give me that same vibe?” I mean, Blink-182 has that specific sound, you know? The catchy hooks, the fast-paced drums, the kinda whiny-but-in-a-good-way vocals. So, I decided to do dive in and see what I could find.

First, I started by just thinking about the bands I already knew and listened to a lot back in the day. This was a memory trip lane situation. I did the work.
- Sum 41
- Good Charlotte
- New Found Glory
Those were the obvious ones, the bands that practically lived on the same playlists as Blink-182 back in the 2000s. I listened to a few tracks from each, just to make sure my memory wasn’t playing tricks on me. Yep, still that same pop-punk energy, the driving guitars, the relatable lyrics about teenage angst and stuff.
Diving Deeper
But I wanted more. I wanted to see if there were any bands I’d missed, maybe some newer ones carrying that torch. So I fired up my go to music and typed in “bands like Blink-182.” I started looking at others suggestions.
I spent a good hour or two just clicking through, listening to a song or two from each band. I found a few that were okay, but nothing that really grabbed me. Some were too hardcore, some were too emo, some were just… not good.
Then, I stumbled upon a few that had potential:
- Neck Deep
- The Story So Far
- State Champs
These bands, they had that energy, that catchiness, but with a bit of a modern twist. They were a bit fresher and had their own distinct style and sound. It’s awesome.

So, yeah, that’s pretty much how my little musical exploration went. I rediscovered some old favorites and found a couple of new bands to add to my rotation. It’s always fun to go down these rabbit holes and see what you can unearth. Mission accomplished!
