Okay, so today I was in the mood for some animated fun and decided to find out what other movies are out there that are like “Despicable Me 3.” You know, something with that same kind of humor and adventure.

First, I fired up my old laptop and opened my go-to browser. I just typed in “movies like Despicable Me 3” into the search bar. I figured I’d get at least a few good suggestions, and boy, was I right.
Sifting Through the Results
Right off the bat, I got a ton of results. There were all these websites listing similar movies, but one that caught my eye was this site, Letterboxd. It looked pretty cool and user-friendly, so I clicked on it.
Turns out, Letterboxd had a whole list of movies similar to “Despicable Me.” They said there were 78 films similar to it! I scrolled through, and it was a mix of some I’d seen and others that were totally new to me. There were tags like “Similar Films For Despicable Me” and even “Best Despicable Me Movie Reddit,” which was kind of funny.
Checking Out Other Sites
But I didn’t stop there. I mean, why limit myself to just one source, right? I went back to my search results and found another site, this one called “Filmaffinity.” It described itself as a “personalized voting and recommendation website for movies and series.” Sounded interesting, so I gave it a look.
This site was more like a social network for movie buffs. People could vote on movies, make lists, and write reviews. I saw a bunch of lists there, and many included movies like “Monsters, Inc.” and “Toy Story,” which totally make sense as they have that fun, adventurous vibe like “Despicable Me.”
Looking into Despicable Me 4
While I was at it, I got curious about the latest in the series, “Despicable Me 4.” From what I gathered, it was released on July 3, 2024, and it’s only in theaters for now. There’s a new villain named Maxime Le Mal, and it sounds like Gru and his family are up to their usual antics. Dru also makes an appearance at the end, which is a nice touch.

I also learned that there is still no news about “Despicable Me 5” . It might take years before the green light is given. “Despicable Me 4” was planned in 2017, but it wasn’t formally announced until 2022.
Wrapping Up
All in all, it was a pretty productive search. I ended up with a solid list of movies to check out. From classics like “Monsters, Inc.” and “Toy Story” to some new ones I hadn’t heard of before, it looks like I’ve got my movie-watching plans sorted for the next few weeks. I suggest doing the same if you are a fan of “Despicable Me.”
So, that’s my little adventure for today. Hope you found it helpful. Until next time!
