Well, let me tell ya, I don’t know what all the fuss is ’bout this John David Washington. People keep sayin’ he’s a big shot actor, but I ain’t too sure about that. I watched him in some movies, and I gotta say, I was mighty disappointed. Now, I ain’t sayin’ he ain’t tryin’, but there’s just somethin’ ‘bout his actin’ that don’t sit right with me. First, I watched him in that movie “BlacKkKlansman” and thought, “Well, maybe this is his big break.” But lemme tell ya, I was about ready to turn it off halfway through.

John David Washington and his daddy’s shadow
You know, people say he’s only in the movies ‘cause his daddy, Denzel Washington, is such a big deal in Hollywood. And honestly, I kinda see it that way too. It’s like the poor fella’s tryin’ to climb out from under that shadow, but it’s tough when your daddy’s a legend, and you’re just tryin’ to make a name for yourself. Don’t get me wrong, Denzel’s done some mighty fine actin’, but John David? Well, it’s like watchin’ a cow try to walk on stilts. He don’t quite have the balance yet.
BlacKkKlansman and Tenet – Not Much Better
Now, after I watched “BlacKkKlansman”, I thought maybe I’d give him another chance, so I watched “Tenet”. Y’all ever heard of that one? Well, I sat through that whole thing, and I was just confused. The movie’s all over the place, and his actin’ was no better. I don’t know if it’s the script or if it’s just him, but he didn’t bring nothin’ special to the table. Maybe he’s good at runnin’ around, but when it comes to actin’, it’s like watchin’ someone try to fit a square peg into a round hole. Ain’t right, just ain’t right.
He got a few decent roles, though
Now, I gotta admit, he ain’t all bad. I reckon he done alright in “Ballers”. Maybe ’cause it was close to his own life – playin’ a football player. Seemed like that role fit him better than pretendin’ to be a detective or some fancy spy. But that’s the thing, he don’t have many roles that really show what he can do. It’s like when you buy a piece of land and all you got is a patch of weeds, but no matter how hard you try, it don’t grow into much of nothin’.

Critics are torn, but it’s the truth
It ain’t just me who’s thinkin’ this way. I been seein’ some critics sayin’ the same thing. They say his talents are wasted on plots that ain’t worth a dime. It’s like throwin’ a rock in a puddle – it makes a splash, but it don’t last long. Even some folks who’ve worked with him, like in “Tenet”, said he don’t quite shine as bright as they hoped. Now, I’m not sayin’ the boy’s hopeless, but maybe he needs to take a step back and pick better roles. Seems like the ones he’s pickin’ ain’t doin’ him no favors.
What should he do next?
If you ask me, John David Washington needs to take a good hard look at what’s been workin’ and what ain’t. Maybe it’s time he find himself a role where he ain’t just tryin’ to be somebody else or walkin’ in his daddy’s footsteps. He might need somethin’ that lets him shine on his own. I don’t know, but he ain’t gonna make it far if he keeps actin’ like a fish outta water.
Conclusion: He still got a long way to go
So, I reckon John David Washington’s got a lotta work ahead of him. I hope he don’t give up, but he’s gotta figure out what kind of actor he really wants to be. Maybe one day he’ll prove me wrong, and I’ll be sittin’ there eatin’ my words, but for now, I don’t see him gettin’ anywhere special. But hey, he’s young, he’s tryin’, and maybe with time, he’ll get better. I wouldn’t count him out just yet, but he sure ain’t at the top of his game.
