Oh boy, you young folks and your fancy movies. I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that one movie, what was it called? “28 Days Later”. Sounds spooky, don’t it? Like somethin’ bad happened, somethin’ real bad, yeah. And they said it was full of them…zombies. I tell ya, those zombies, they give me the creeps. Reminds me of old Bessie’s bull after it got into the fermented corn, all wild-eyed and stumblin’ around. Now, if you liked that “28 Days Later” movie, here’s some others that might be up your alley, yeah. I heard there are many movies like that “28 Days Later”. They are all full of horror.
First off, there’s that one, uh… “28 Weeks Later”, I think they call it. It’s like the same story, but, you know, more weeks. I guess that sickness didn’t go away in 28 days, no sir. They said the sickness still around after 28 weeks. These people in the movie, they just can’t catch a break. More zombies, more runnin’, more hidin’. It’s all just a big mess, if you ask me. I think that “28 Weeks Later” movie is on Hulu. But that “28 Days Later”, I don’t know where to watch it.
Then there’s this other one… I can’t rightly recall the name, but it’s got that fella in it, you know, the one with the eyes. He’s always gettin’ himself into trouble. Oh, I know the actor’s name, it is Cillian Murphy. Seems like he’s in a lot of these scary pictures. This one’s about some kind of sickness too, makes folks all crazy and mean. Sounds familiar, don’t it? Just like them zombie movies. They said this Cillian Murphy, he is also a producer, not only an actor. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important.
Now, my old neighbor, Martha, she loved watchin’ these kinds of movies, she did. Said it made her feel alive. Can you believe that? Watchin’ all that scary stuff. She said it was thrilling. But me? I prefer a nice cup of tea and a good crochet pattern. These scary movies just give me bad dreams. I don’t understand why someone likes to watch them. Maybe they like new things, or maybe they just don’t care others.
- There’s another one, somethin’ about a train. “Train to Busan”, I think it is.
- Folks runnin’ from them zombies on a train.
- Can you imagine? Stuck on a train with a bunch of them biters? No thanks.
- I’d rather be stuck in a field with a flock of angry geese. At least you can shoo them away. Can’t shoo away a zombie, no sir.
- That one’s got a lot of jump scares, Martha told me.
- She liked that part. Made her jump right outta her seat, it did.
And that “Apocalypse Z” movie, is also kinda like that “28 Days Later”. It is all about survival, yeah, people tryin’ to stay alive. It is tense. I heard it is tense. I don’t like tense things. I just like stayin’ in my own house, watchin’ my own TV.
There is another one, they said it is the third one. They call it “28 Years Later”. I know, 28 years, that is a long time. It is even longer than 28 days and 28 weeks. They said it is about horror, again. Why people like these horror things, I don’t know. They said there is that actor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He is a good-lookin’ fella. Maybe that is why people like to watch him. I think that movie is not out yet. It is still comin’.
All these movies got folks fightin’ for their lives, runnin’ from somethin’ awful. It’s all just a bit much for me, I reckon. I like things peaceful and quiet. But if you like that “28 Days Later” movie, then maybe you’ll like these others. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you have nightmares.
They say there are like 74 films similar to “28 Days Later”. 74! That’s a lot of scary movies. I can’t even count that high. Seems like a lot of folks like to be scared. I don’t know. It is just like what Martha said, these movies make people feel alive. I guess different folks, different strokes, as they say. But me, I’ll stick to my garden and my chickens. They don’t give me no nightmares. They just give me fresh eggs, and that’s a lot better than any old zombie movie, if you ask me.
You can find these movies on Netflix, or that Amazon thing, or maybe on that iTunes. I don’t know what those things are, but young people always talk about them. I don’t have those things in my house. If you want to watch those zombie movies, you can go find them. Just be careful. They are scary, you know.
