Alright, alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about them movies like Crank. You know, the kind that make your heart jump outta your chest and your palms sweat like a pig in July.
First off, what’s Crank all about, anyways? Well, it’s this crazy flick about a fella, this Chev guy, who gets poisoned and gotta keep his adrenaline pumpin’ or he’ll croak. So, he’s runnin’ around, causin’ all sorts of mayhem, beatin’ up bad guys, and doin’ all kinda wild stuff just to stay alive. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
So, if you liked that kinda craziness, you might like some other movies too. They ain’t exactly the same, mind you, but they got that same kinda… whatchamacallit… energy. Yeah, that’s it. High energy, lotsa action, and maybe a bit of that… over-the-top stuff.
One movie that comes to mind is Shoot ‘Em Up. This fella, Clive Owen, he’s gotta protect this baby, and he does it by, well, shootin’ up the place. Lots and lots of shootin’. And he ain’t just shootin’ regular-like. He’s doin’ all these fancy tricks and stuff, like a real show-off. But it’s fun to watch, y’know? Makes you wanna grab a gun yourself, though I wouldn’t recommend it, mind you. Guns are dangerous.
Then there’s this other one, Hardcore Henry. Now, this one’s a real trip. It’s all filmed from the first-person perspective, so it’s like you’re the one runnin’ around, punchin’ folks and shootin’ guns. It’s kinda like a video game, but real… or as real as a movie can get, I guess. Gave me a headache somethin’ fierce, but if you like that fast-paced stuff, you might dig it.
And let’s not forget about Gamer. This one’s got Gerard Butler, that fella from 300. He’s in this crazy future where people control other people in a real-life video game. It’s violent, it’s loud, and it’s got explosions galore. Not my cup of tea, all that computer stuff confuses me, but my grandson seems to like it.
Now, if you want somethin’ a little different, but still got that action vibe, you could try John Wick. Keanu Reeves plays this retired hitman who gets dragged back into the underworld. He’s a real badass, let me tell ya. And the fight scenes? Oh boy, they’re somethin’ else. He uses all sorts of guns, and knives, and even pencils, for cryin’ out loud! He’s got a reason for all that killing though, someone killed his dog, bless his heart.
And then there’s The Raid: Redemption. This one’s Indonesian, but don’t let that scare ya. It’s all about this SWAT team that gets trapped in a building full of bad guys. And I mean full. They fight their way up, floor by floor, and it’s just non-stop action. Punches, kicks, knives, the whole shebang. Makes you wonder how they ain’t all dead by the end of it.
