Okay, so today I wanted to find some bands that sound like Fall Out Boy. Here’s how I did it:

Operation: Find Fall Out Boy-esque Bands
First, I fired up my browser. Gotta start somewhere, right?
Then, I typed in “bands similar to Fall Out Boy” into the search bar. Super original, I know.
I scrolled through a bunch of lists and articles. Most of them were just, like, the same five bands over and over. You know the ones I’m talking about.
So, I decided to get a little more specific. I started thinking about what I like about Fall Out Boy. It’s not just the pop-punk thing, it’s also the lyrics, and that kinda theatrical vibe, you know?
I went back to searching, but this time I added some extra keywords, like “lyrical” and “theatrical” and see what popped up.
This is where things got a little more interesting. A few new names started to appear. I did see a lot of overlap, but, a few bands got me thinking.

I spent the next hour or so just jumping around, opening new tabs, and checking out some of the suggested bands.
I jotted down some notes about each band.
Finally, I narrowed down my list to about six or seven bands that I thought had at least some of that Fall Out Boy magic, either in their sound, their lyrics, or just their overall vibe. It was a bit of a mixed bag, but that’s what I was going for – I didn’t want carbon copies, just something in the same neighborhood.
