Alright, let me tell ya ’bout them horror movies for October. You know, when the leaves start fallin’ and the air gets all chilly? That’s when you wanna snuggle up and watch somethin’ scary. Now, I ain’t talkin’ ’bout them silly ones with all the jump scares and no story. I mean the real deal, the ones that make ya think, the ones that stick with ya long after the credits roll.

First off, there’s that one about the thing in the woods. In a Violent Nature, they called it. Somethin’ ’bout a locket and a fire tower. Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I didn’t quite get all of it, but it sure was somethin’. All creepy and dark, just like the woods at night. Reminded me of them stories my grandma used to tell ’bout things lurkin’ in the shadows. Made me wanna keep all the lights on, that’s for sure.
- Then there’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. That one’s about revenge, they say. Someone comin’ back from the dead to get even. Now, I ain’t one for holdin’ grudges, but I reckon some folks just can’t let things go. Makes for a good story, though. This Freddy fella, he gets ya in your dreams. Ain’t no escapin’ that, is there? Makes ya think twice ’bout closin’ your eyes.
- And how ’bout that Crackcoon? Don’t that sound somethin’? Just when ya think it’s safe to take out the trash, somethin’ comes sneakin’ up on ya. A horror-comedy, they call it. I like a good laugh with my scares. Keeps things from gettin’ too serious. We all need a good laugh now and then, especially when things get spooky.
Now, I hear some folks are tired of them modern horror flicks. Always relyin’ on fancy effects and such. They want the classics. And I gotta say, I agree. The Exorcist, now there’s a movie. Made back in the ’70s, but still scares the pants off ya. All about real life terrors, they say. Not just monsters and make-believe. Things that could happen to anyone. That’s what makes it so darn scary.
Then there’s them movies set in autumn. You know, with cornfields and scarecrows. Horror movies set in autumn / October / Halloween, they call ’em. Always somethin’ spooky ’bout a cornfield at night. Never know what’s hidin’ in them tall stalks. And scarecrows? Don’t even get me started. Standin’ there all silent and still, watchin’. Gives me the shivers just thinkin’ ’bout it.
You know, it’s the best time of year for this kinda stuff. When the leaves start fallin’ and the nights get longer. Autumn / Fall / October / Halloween horror movies, they got it all. Ghosts and goblins, monsters and mayhem. Perfect for settlin’ in with a blanket and a cup of somethin’ warm. And maybe, just maybe, leavin’ a light on.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch this October, give these a try. Whether you like your horror classic or modern, funny or serious, there’s somethin’ for everyone. Just remember to keep the lights on. You never know what’s lurkin’ in the dark.
