Well, let me tell you about this thing, holowitches. I heard about it from my young grandkid, always glued to that darn phone.

Seems like it’s some kinda new thing, like those cartoons they watch but more… I don’t know, fancy? They call it “multimedia project,” sounds like a big word for something that’s just pictures and stories, if you ask me.
This holowitches thing, it’s got these… what do they call ’em… VTubers? Yeah, VTubers. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like some newfangled tech stuff. But these VTubers, they’re like, uh, cartoon people, but they talk and sing and do all sorts of things on the computer. Like them singing puppets but on the internet, I guess.
Now, they’re making a whole bunch of stuff with these VTubers. They got an anime, you know, those Japanese cartoons. And they got manga, them picture books. My grandkid says they even got some kinda “animated PV,” probably just a fancy name for a cartoon trailer. It’s all about magical girls, they say. Always with the magic! Back in my day, magic was just getting the crops to grow, not some fancy girl with sparkly powers.
They even got a website for it, and something called “X.” Sounds like a secret agent thing, but my grandkid says it’s just where they post updates and stuff. They’re even making a whole story outta this, like a soap opera but with cartoons and magic. They call it “Magical Girl Holowitches!” Sounds like a mouthful to me. They got these girls, can’t remember all their names, something like Sora, Roboco, Miko, Azki, and… Amane something? Too many fancy names for this old brain to remember.
- They got an anime coming, whatever that is.
- They got those picture books, what they call manga.
- They’re doing it all with these VTubers, the computer cartoon people.
- They’re telling some kinda story ‘bout magical girls.
My grandkid tells me they announced this whole thing recently. Said something about May 16th, I think that’s when they started putting out the picture books or something. And they put out a long cartoon trailer, four minutes long they said! Four minutes of cartoons! Back in my day, we didn’t have time for such things. We were too busy working.
They’re real serious about this holowitches thing. They’re trying to make it into a big deal, with all these different types of… content, they call it. They want everyone to watch it, read it, talk about it. It’s all just a way to sell you something, if you ask me. Like them magazines with the pretty pictures, always trying to get you to buy something.

They even put together some VTubers in groups they call generations, even if they didn’t start at the same time. Like putting apples and oranges in the same basket just ‘cause they’re both fruits. Makes no sense to me, but then again, most of this newfangled stuff doesn’t.
Anyway, that’s what I know about this holowitches thing. Sounds like a whole lot of fuss about nothing, if you ask me. But the young folks, they seem to like it. So, I guess it must be something. Maybe one day I’ll sit down with my grandkid and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe. Probably not. Got better things to do, like mending socks and making sure the chickens don’t get out.
So, there ya have it. That’s the story of this Magical Girl holowitches thing, as best as I can tell ya. Don’t understand half of it, but it seems to keep the youngsters happy. And I guess that’s all that matters.
