Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this… this “Genesis Shepperton 50th Anniversary” thing. Don’t know much about fancy words, but I heard it was a big deal, a real shindig.

So, like, fifty years back, these fellas, Genesis, they were playin’ music all over the place. Real popular, I guess. They stopped their tour, somethin’ called “Selling England,” to film themselves at this Shepperton Studios place. Surrey, they say. Sounds fancy, prob’ly got them big ol’ houses like on TV.
They filmed it all back in October and November, I think. October 30th to November 1st, somethin’ like that. See, I ain’t good with dates, but I remember my Bessie’s birthday is in October, so that’s how I remember. Anyway, these Genesis boys, they played their hearts out, that’s what I heard.
- They got this museum thing, “Genesis Museum” they call it.
- And some fellas, TM Productions and Thomas Manchon, they helped out too. Prob’ly with the cameras and stuff.
Now, I heard they played this long song, a real long one, called “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.” Sounds like a story, prob’ly ’bout sheep and cities, I dunno. They put it out on a record, a double one, in 1974. Folks loved it, still do, I reckon.
And this ain’t the first time they put out old stuff. They got this box set, “Genesis Archive 1967-75” they called it. Had a bunch of their shows in it. One from some place called Shrine Auditorium in L.A. Don’t know where that is, but sounds far away. They played that show a long time ago too, prob’ly when I was still milkin’ cows.
I saw this interview too, with two of the guys, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford. They talked about the old days, how they made the music. Said it was a “classic rock” thing. Guess that means it’s old but good, like my grandma’s apple pie recipe. They prob’ly had a lot to say, those two. Always chattin’, like hens in a coop.
Fifty years, that’s a long time, ain’t it? Makes you think, you know? These fellas, they played their music, folks listened, and now they’re celebratin’ it all over again. Guess that means it was somethin’ special. Somethin’ folks remember. Like that time the Johnson’s barn burned down, everyone remembers that.

This “Shepperton” thing, it’s prob’ly got all them old songs, maybe even some new stuff, I ain’t sure. But if you like that Genesis music, that old rock and roll, then you might like this. Me? I like a good hymn, myself, somethin’ you can sing along to. But these Genesis boys, they had somethin’ too, somethin’ that made folks listen. And fifty years later, they’re still listenin’. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
So, that’s all I know ’bout this “Genesis Shepperton 50th Anniversary” thing. Just a bunch of fellas playing music a long time ago, and folks still makin’ a fuss about it. Guess that’s the way things go sometimes. Some things just stick around, you know? Like a good cup of coffee, or a stubborn weed in the garden.
