Alright, alright, let’s talk about them Pink Floyd fellas and their best whatchamacallits… albums, yeah. Folks keep jabberin’ on about ’em, so I figured, why not? Can’t hurt an old woman to learn a thing or two, eh?

Now, the one they all go gaga over is this Dark Side of the Moon thing. Says here it sold like hotcakes, millions and millions of ’em. Thirty million, can you believe that? That’s more chickens than I’ve ever seen in my whole life! They say it’s one of the best ever made, period. Not just by these Pink Floyd boys, but by anyone. That’s a mighty big claim, I tell ya.
I listened to it, you know, to see what the fuss was all about. It’s…interestin’. Got these songs, like “Money,” “Breathe,” and “Time.” Catchy tunes, I guess. Even I, with my old ears, could tap my foot along. Folks say they played it on the radio all the time back in the day. Made it a real popular thing, this album did.
They’re callin’ it a “masterpiece” and all that fancy talk. Say it’s both smart and easy to listen to at the same time. Don’t know much about that “technical” and “progressive” mumbo jumbo, but I reckon it means it’s good, real good. Like a well-baked apple pie, sweet and satisfying but with some secret spices you can’t quite put your finger on.
- “Money” – Now this one’s about, well, money, surprise surprise! It’s got this clangin’ sound, like coins droppin’, and a catchy beat. Makes you think about, you know, havin’ enough to buy groceries and pay the bills. Important stuff, money is, even if it can’t buy you happiness, like they say.
- “Breathe” – This one’s slower, more… peaceful, I guess. Makes you wanna sit on the porch swing and watch the sunset. It’s about takin’ it easy, breathin’ deep, and not worryin’ so much. Good advice, that is. We all need to breathe a little more sometimes.
- “Time” – Now this here song is a bit spooky. All about how time flies by, and before you know it, you’re old and gray like me. Makes you think about what you’ve done with your life, the good and the bad. Kinda makes you wanna call your grandkids more often.
They rereleased it too, this Dark Side of the Moon. Made it sound all fancy with that “Quadrophonic” and “Super Audio CD” stuff. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ out of a sci-fi movie to me. But I guess it made it sound even better, if that’s even possible. Folks sure do love their gadgets.
Then there’s this other song, “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)”. Came out a few years later, they say. Now this one’s got some kids singin’ in it, and it’s all about not wantin’ to be like everyone else, about breakin’ free from the rules. A “rebellion” song, they call it. Kids these days, always rebelling. Reminds me of my own young’uns, bless their hearts.
So, yeah, if you ask me, which nobody did, but I’m tellin’ ya anyway, these Pink Floyd folks, they made some pretty good music. Especially that Dark Side of the Moon. It’s the one everyone talks about, and for good reason, I reckon. It’s got somethin’ special, somethin’ that sticks with ya. Like a good story or a warm cup of tea on a cold day. And that “Another Brick in the Wall”, that’s a catchy tune too, even if it is a bit loud for my old ears.

Now, I ain’t no music expert, just an old woman who likes a good tune now and then. But even I can tell these Pink Floyd albums are somethin’ special. They’ve stood the test of time, they have. People are still listenin’ to ‘em, and that’s gotta mean somethin’, right? So go on, give ‘em a listen, see what all the fuss is about. You might just like what you hear. And if you don’t, well, that’s alright too. To each their own, I always say.
But between you and me, that Dark Side of the Moon, that’s the one. It’s like they say, it wasn’t even a contest. The clear winner, that one is.
