Okay, so I wanted to make a list of movies filmed in Arkansas, ’cause, why not? It’s my home state, and I was curious. Here’s how I went about it, step-by-step.

Step 1: The Obvious – Google It
First thing I did was just straight-up Google “films shot in Arkansas.” I mean, that’s the easiest way to get a quick overview, right? I got a bunch of results, some helpful, some not so much.
Step 2: Digging Through Websites
I clicked on a few of the top links, mostly articles listing movies. Some were from local news sites, others were just general movie blogs. I started jotting down the names of movies that popped up repeatedly. I figured if multiple sites mentioned the same film, it was probably legit.
Gotta make this list, or its a waste of time!
Step 3: Getting Specific (and a Little Frustrated)
Some sites were super vague, just saying “partially filmed in Arkansas.” I wanted to know where in Arkansas, you know? So I started searching for individual movie titles, like “[Movie Title] filming locations Arkansas.” This was hit or miss. Sometimes I’d find detailed info, other times, nothing.
Step 4: Hitting Up the Encyclopedia of Arkansas
I use it alot, so I typed “Filmed in Arkansas”.And a lot of films * I pick some of them and read the details.
- A Soldier’s Story (1984)
- The Blue and the Gray(1982)
- End of the Line(1987)
- Biloxi Blues, (1988)
- Rosalie Goes Shopping (1989)
Step 5: Making My Own List
After all that searching, I started compiling my own list. I wanted to include not just the movie title, but also, if I could find it, the specific locations in Arkansas where it was filmed. It’s still a work in progress, and probably always will be, but it was a fun little project.

It’s kinda cool to see how many movies, big and small, have used Arkansas as a backdrop. Makes you appreciate the state a little more, I think.
