Okay, so I’ve been meaning to dig into this whole “films made in Sedona” thing for a while now. It kept popping up in random conversations, and I figured, why not see what the fuss is all about? I’m a sucker for a good movie location, and Sedona’s got that whole red rock, mystical vibe going on. So, I decided to see what I could find out, keep track, and share it here, obviously!

First Step: Simple Search
First things first, I fired up my trusty search engine. I just typed in “films made in Sedona” – nothing fancy. I wanted to see what the general consensus was. What were the big names, the obvious stuff?
I scrolled through a few pages of results. Lots of lists, some blog posts, a couple of official-looking tourism sites. It was a bit of a mixed bag, but it gave me a starting point.
Gathering the titles:
Next, I started jotting down movie titles. I didn’t bother with anything too obscure at this point. I was looking for the ones that kept appearing on multiple lists. The kind of movies you might actually recognize. I used a simple notepad app on my phone. Easy peasy.
- Movie 1:I see ‘Broken Arrow.’
- Movie 2:‘Angel and the Badman’ showed up.
- Movie 3:‘3:10 to Yuma.’
- Movie 4: ‘Midnight Run’ was on a list.
Digging Deeper (Slightly):
Once I had a decent list, I picked a few of the titles that sounded interesting. I did a quick search for each of those, just to get a bit more context. When were they filmed? Who was in them? Did they actually use Sedona’s scenery, or was it just a quick shot or two?
It was interesting! Some of these movies really leaned into the Sedona landscape. Others, it was more like, “Oh, hey, there’s a red rock in the background for five seconds.”
My conclusion!
So, what did I learn? Well, Sedona’s definitely been a popular spot for filmmakers over the years. It’s got that iconic Western look, but it’s also been used for more modern stuff. I think it’d be cool to plan a trip, check out some of the locations in person, and have a little movie marathon! It’s on my to-do list, for sure.

That’s all. I searched, recorded and achieved it!
