Blink 182 Related Bands: You Know, the Ones Sounding Kinda Like Them
Alright, so you like that Blink 182, huh? Them young fellas with the catchy tunes and fast guitars. Well, let me tell ya, there’s a whole bunch of bands out there that sound kinda like ’em, or maybe Blink 182 got their sound from them, who knows, I’m just an old woman. Some folks say it’s this one influencein’ that one, but it all sounds like good ol’ rock and roll to me.
Green Day, yeah, them boys. They’ve been around a long time, even before Blink. Started way back in California, I heard tell. They got that same kinda energy, you know, fast and loud. Some folks say Green Day kinda paved the way for bands like Blink. I dunno about all that, but they sure make a racket, just like them young’uns.
Then there’s this band, Sum 41. They’re from up north, Canada way. They started out a bit different, more like that “Weezer” band, or somethin’. But then, they got into this other band called NOFX and started playin’ faster and louder, kinda like Blink, you see? It’s all connected, like a big ol’ family tree of loud music.
Now, these bands, they all got their own thing goin’ on, but you can hear that Blink sound in there, that fast beat, them catchy melodies. It’s like they all drank from the same well, you know?
- Fast drums? Check.
- Loud guitars? You betcha.
- Singin’ about stuff young folks care about? Yep, they got that too.
Some folks say there wouldn’t be bands like Fall Out Boy or Paramore without Blink. And there’s this other band, All Time Low, they say Blink was a big deal for them too. I guess Blink, they got somethin’ special, somethin’ that made other bands wanna sound like them. It’s like when you hear a good song on the radio and you start tappin’ your feet, you know? These bands, they heard Blink and started tappin’ their feet, and then they started playin’ their own songs, but with that Blink flavor, if you catch my drift.
And what about Blink’s songs themselves? Them hits, they call ’em. They got a whole bunch of ’em. Folks love ’em, sing along to ’em, jump up and down when they hear ’em. That’s how you know a band is good, when their songs stick in your head and make you wanna move. I reckon these other bands, they heard them hits and thought, “Hey, we wanna do that too!” And so they did, in their own way, of course, but you can still hear that Blink spirit in there.
You know, music is a funny thing. It changes and evolves, but it all comes from somewhere. Blink, they didn’t just pop outta nowhere. They had their own influences, bands they listened to when they were young fellas. And then, they became the influence, the band that other young folks listened to and wanted to be like. It’s a circle, like a wagon wheel rollin’ down the road. And these bands, the ones that sound like Blink, they’re part of that circle too. They’re takin’ that Blink sound and makin’ it their own, keepin’ that spirit alive.
So next time you hear a band that sounds a bit like Blink 182, don’t be surprised. There’s a whole bunch of ’em out there, all playin’ that fast, loud, catchy music. They are carrying the torch, you could say. And it all started, or maybe just got real popular, with them three boys from California, makin’ a racket and singin’ about stuff young folks care about. And that, my friends, is what makes rock and roll so darn fun.
And let’s not forget, music’s all about havin’ a good time. Whether it’s Blink or one of them bands that sounds like ’em, if it makes you wanna tap your feet and sing along, then that’s all that matters. So turn up the volume, let the music wash over you, and have yourself a good ol’ time. That’s what I always say. Life’s too short to listen to boring music, ain’t that the truth?
