Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these Malayalam movie actors. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, just a regular person who likes watchin’ a good story. And let me tell you, some of these fellas, they can really tell a story, ya know?
I seen a bunch of ’em, all them actors, young and old. Some, they start out playin’ the bad guys, real mean and nasty. Then, boom! Next thing ya know, they’re the heroes, savin’ the day and makin’ ya cry a little, maybe even laugh a whole lot. It’s like magic, the way they change. Take that one fella, started as a villain, now he’s one of the best. Can’t even remember his name right now, but he’s good, real good. Without a doubt, he is.
Now, they got these lists, ya know? Lists of the best actors, the young ones, under 40 they say. They make all sorts of movies, all different kinds. Some make ya think, some make ya scared, and some just make ya feel good inside. I like the ones that make ya feel good, the ones with a happy endin’.
There’s this Mammootty fella, I heard he’s a big deal. He acts and makes the movies too, a real busybody, I reckon. He’s been around a long time, they say. Lots of awards and such. Good for him, I say. Workin’ hard, that’s what it’s all about.
- Then there’s this other fella, Mohanlal. He’s another one they say is the best. They even call him “king of the box office.” Imagine that! King of a box! Sounds silly, but I guess it means he’s real popular. He’s been makin’ movies for a long, long time, almost forty years they say. Started way back when, and he’s still goin’ strong.
- They give out awards, ya know, for the best actin’. Like those Kerala State Film Awards. Started way back in 1970. That Sathyan fella got the first one. Then Nedumudi Venu got one too. And these two fellas, Mohanlal and Mammootty, they got a whole bunch, six each they say. That’s a lot of awards, gotta be good to get that many.
Mohanlal, they say he’s one of the best India ever made. Talented, that’s the word they use. I guess he’s somethin’ special. He makes smart moves, they say. Keeps him popular, keeps him makin’ those movies. Smart fella, I bet.
It’s funny, ya know, watchin’ these movies. You see these actors, they become different people. One minute they’re a farmer, next minute they’re a policeman, then a king even! It’s like they got a whole bunch of people livin’ inside ’em, just waitin’ to come out. And they do it so good, ya almost believe it’s real.
I don’t know much about the technical stuff, the directin’ and the writin’. I just watch the story, see how the actors make me feel. And some of these Malayalam actors, they make me feel a lot. They make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me think about things. And that’s what makes a good movie, ain’t it? Makin’ ya feel somethin’. So, yeah, these fellas, these Malayalam movie actors, they’re alright. Some of ’em are even better than alright. They’re special.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents. I ain’t no expert, just a person who likes a good story. And these fellas, they sure know how to tell ‘em.
