Okay, so I wanted to talk about something I’ve been thinking about lately – the greatest actresses of the 21st century. It’s a fun topic, right? And there are so many great ones to talk about! So, I did a bit of digging, a little bit of this and that. You know how it is.
First, I started by just looking around online, just casually, checking out some lists of actresses. I didn’t want to get too academic about it, just wanted to see what names kept popping up. I looked at different websites, saw some names I recognized, and some I didn’t. It was a mess, to be honest.
Then, I decided to make my own list, like a personal one. I thought about the movies I’ve watched this century – a lot of them, believe me – and the performances that really stuck with me. You know, the ones that made you go “wow, she’s amazing.” It was a tough one, but I managed to put together a list of my own.
I wrote down names like Scarlett Johansson. I mean, who can forget her in “Marriage Story”? She was incredible. It was hard to believe it was just a movie. I was so moved that I cried for hours after watching it. That movie is just so great, I think it’s a must-watch for everyone. I remember watching it and just being blown away by her performance. So she definitely had to be on my list.
And of course, I had to include Meryl Streep. I mean, come on, she’s Meryl Streep. People say she’s the best, and you know what? They’re probably right. She’s been nominated for, like, a million Academy Awards. Okay, maybe not a million, but it’s a lot! 21, to be exact. I’ve seen so many of her movies, and she’s always amazing. Always. It doesn’t even matter what she’s in, she’s always great. So she’s a definite yes.
After that, I compared my list to some of the lists I found online. Some names were the same, some were different. I also checked some of these other names that kept coming up online. I watched a few more movies – you know, for research, ha! – and adjusted my list a little. It was all very informal, but it was fun. It felt like I was getting somewhere, you know?
So, after all that, I finally ended up with a list that I was pretty happy with. It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely just my opinion, but I think it’s a good starting point for a discussion. I think these actresses have really made a difference in the movies of this century.
