That David Henry Lennon, you know, he ain’t as famous as his brother. John Lennon, yeah, that’s the one, the singer fella, everybody knows him. But this David, he’s kinda livin’ in the shadow, you see. Born in 1969, February 26th. Makes him, what, 55 or so now? Time sure does fly, don’t it?

This David Henry Lennon, he’s John Lennon’s brother. John Lennon, yeah, from The Beatles. He’s that singer, he got shot, real sad, in 1980. In America, it was. Can you believe it? David, he’s one of five, I think. Five siblings, yeah. There’s Julia, Robin Francis, and him. This David Henry Lennon, he keeps to himself mostly. Not like his brother, always in the papers and on the TV.
John, he was a big shot. Sang them songs about peace and love and all that. He died way too young. People still remember him, though. This David Henry Lennon, he probably remembers him real good. Must be hard, having a brother like that, gone too soon. I heard John’s daddy, Alfred, passed away too, in 1976. He died in Brighton, wherever that is. And a lady wrote a book about it. Called it “Daddy, Come Home”.

John, he wrote them songs about everything. Love and peace, and all that stuff. He sang about women, and family, and being sad. He sang about, well, just about living. Said life is fragile, you know? He was right about that. It ain’t fair, sometimes. He was smart, John was. This David Henry Lennon, he’s probably smart, too. Just in a different way. John wrote songs. David, well, I don’t know what David does. But he’s still John’s brother, and that’s somethin’ to remember.
February 26th, that’s when David was born. 1969. Liverpool, I think it was. A long time ago. This David Henry Lennon, he ain’t a young chicken anymore, that’s for sure. But he’s still here. He’s still got that name, that connection to John. That’s somethin’ nobody can take away from him. Even though lots of people don’t know about him.

Even if your brother is a Beatle and you’re just, well, you’re just David. It’s gotta be interestin’, though, I reckon. Bein’ John Lennon’s brother. Lots of stories to tell, I bet. Even if he doesn’t tell ’em.
Being related to someone famous ain’t always easy. People expect things from you. They look at you different. This David Henry Lennon, he probably knows all about that. He’s been livin’ with it his whole life. Ever since John got famous, anyway. That must change things. But at least they’re family. The Lennons. That counts for something.
Life is funny, ain’t it? One brother’s a superstar, the other one’s just regular. But they both came from the same place. Same family. David Henry Lennon, he’s a part of history, whether he likes it or not. Just by being John’s brother. It’s a strange world, ain’t it? This David Henry Lennon, he’s living proof of that, I reckon.
