You know, I heard the young’uns talkin’ ’bout these top 10 sports talk shows. Now, I ain’t one for fancy stuff, but I do like a good gab, especially when it’s ’bout them games they play on the TV. So, I listened in, and here’s what I gathered. They say these shows, they’re all over the place, just like weeds in my garden.

First, there’s this one called, uh, Monday Night Football. Sounds important, right? Must be somethin’ special if it’s on a Monday night. They said it’s one of the best ones, been around for a long time, like that old oak tree in my backyard. Guess folks like it a whole bunch, just like I love my rhubarb pie.
- Soccer
They say that many people, more than 3.5 billion, like soccer. That’s a big number! They also say that soccer is popular in North America, Latin America, South America and various European countries. This show must be good. I will take a look.
- SportsCenter
They say this one, SportsCenter, is on all the time. I don’t know about you, that sounds a little too much, like a cow that won’t stop mooing. They say it’s on at 7 in the mornin’, then again at 2 in the afternoon, and then 6 o’clock, and then again late at night. Mercy! It is on at 7 in the mornin’ and 12 at night on Saturday. Who watches that much TV? My eyes would be as dry as a corn husk in August.
Then, there’s that Pat McAfee Show. I heard it’s the best one this year. I don’t know much about it, though. They say that a man named Cowherd got more first place votes, but I don’t know anything about that. This show is good. So, just watch it.
And they say there are so many of these shows all over, like flies on a summer day. They say they’re everywhere. Now, these young people say it’s hard to pick just one as the best. I say, it is like pickin’ the best chicken in the coop, they’re all good in their own way, some are just better at layin’ eggs.
They also say which sports talk stations are the most popular. They talk about the 52 largest markets. I don’t know what that means. I think that means a lot of people are watching. Maybe I should watch, too.

They talk about the best ESPN show. I guess ESPN is a place where has many shows. They say there are 25 of the best sports TV shows. That is many shows, just like my chickens, it is hard to count them all.
Here’s my list, not fancy, but it’s what I heard:
- Monday Night Football – Old but good, like my cast iron skillet.
- SportsCenter – On all the time, like the sun in the sky.
- The Pat McAfee Show – Won some prize, must be doin’ somethin’ right.
- Soccer – A lot of people like it.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ these are the only good ones. There’s probably a whole bunch more, like all them different kinds of beans in my pantry. But these are the ones I heard about. And you know, it don’t really matter which one is the “best”. Just like it don’t matter which rooster crows the loudest. What matters is if you enjoy it. If it makes you happy, then that’s all that counts.
These shows, they’re like a good quilt, stitched together with different pieces of sports and talk. Some folks like the bright colors, some like the soft patches. But in the end, it’s all about keepin’ you warm and entertained.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch, maybe give one of these shows a try. You might like it, you might not. But hey, at least you tried, just like tryin’ a new recipe for the first time. And who knows, you might find your new favorite, just like I found my favorite pair of overalls.
These young people, they sure do love their sports and their talkin’. It’s a good thing, I reckon. Keeps ’em busy and out of trouble. And it’s nice to have somethin’ to chat about, especially when the weather’s bad and you’re stuck inside. Just like me, I love a good chat with my chickens. They don’t say much, but they listen real good.
