Well, well, well, here we are, talkin’ about this anime called Chained Soldier. Now, I ain’t no big scholar, but I seen enough to know this show sure got people buzzin’ and scratchin’ their heads. First off, let me tell ya, it’s full of all kinds of stuff—big ol’ monsters, magic, and folks fightin’ like there’s no tomorrow. But let me tell ya, just ’cause it’s got all that action, don’t mean it’s perfect. Nah, it’s got some things that just make ya wonder why they went that route, especially when it comes to all these ladies and the so-called “harem” stuff.

Now, the story’s about a young fella named Yuuki Wakura. Poor boy’s just watchin’ these big, nasty monsters from another dimension threaten the Earth. These monsters, they come from this Mato dimension, and trust me, they ain’t playin’ no games. But here’s the thing—Yuuki ain’t all by his lonesome. He’s got these women around him, women with all sorts of powers, who are tryin’ to stop these creatures from wreckin’ the whole dang place. Seems simple enough, right? But then, this Yuuki fellow starts workin’ with one of the main gals, Chief Kyouka Uzen, who’s mighty powerful herself. And he ends up servin’ her, both on the battlefield and at home. Now, that’s where things get a little… complicated.
See, here’s the rub—while the show’s got some solid action and a decent bit of strategy, some folks feel like it’s just too much about that harem business. I mean, why they gotta make it all about Yuuki and these women? That don’t seem right, does it? They got so much potential, and yet, they waste it on what feels like a tired ol’ trope. That just drags the whole thing down, makin’ it feel second-rate to some folks. Some even said, “Why make this a harem?” And I reckon they got a point, because it could’ve been somethin’ real special if they’d stayed focused on what mattered—like fightin’ the monsters and savin’ the world. But no, instead we get all this mess with lovey-dovey nonsense.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s got its moments. The animation is decent, and the battles can be real intense. But a lot of people, myself included, feel like the plot could’ve been tighter and more exciting if they just cut out some of that extra stuff. You know, all those unnecessary side stories about who’s fallin’ for who and all that. That kinda stuff just don’t sit right when there’s world-ending danger around every corner.
But hold on now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s all bad. The show’s got a loyal fanbase, and some folks are even lookin’ forward to what’s comin’ next. See, the manga it’s based on—written by Takahiro and Yohei Takemura—still got folks interested, and it makes sense the anime would get a second season. In fact, the big news is that Chained Soldier is comin’ back for season two, and it’s set to air January 4, 2024. So, if you’ve been waitin’, looks like your prayers have been answered!
The thing is, even if the show ain’t perfect, there’s somethin’ about it that keeps you comin’ back. Maybe it’s the monsters, maybe it’s the fight scenes, or maybe it’s just that little glimmer of potential that folks keep holdin’ out hope for. If they can clean up some of that harem nonsense and focus more on the action and strategy, who knows? Maybe Chained Soldier could really shine and become a big deal. But for now, it’s a decent watch for those who love their magic and monsters.
So, if you’re a fan of all things battle-filled and monster-slayin’, you might still find somethin’ to love here. But if you’re hopin’ for something deep and meaningful, well, you might be a little disappointed. Anyway, I reckon we’ll just have to wait and see how this next season pans out. January 4th ain’t far off, so you’ll be able to decide for yourself if it’s worth your time. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for those monsters and magic, and don’t let the harem stuff get ya down too much!
