Alright, let’s gab about them lady cooks on the TV, you know, the ones always makin’ a fuss in the kitchen. I seen a whole bunch of ’em, some good, some… well, let’s just say they ain’t all grandma’s cookin’.

First off, you got this Giada somethin’-somethin’, yeah, Giada De Laurentiis. Fancy name, fancy food. She’s always smilin’ and talkin’ all fast, makin’ that Italian stuff. Spaghetti and what-not. My grandkids, they love her. Me? I reckon it’s alright, but give me a good ol’ pot roast any day.
- She’s kinda famous, this Giada. Been on TV forever, it seems.
- Writes books too, I heard. Recipes and such. Fancy that.
Then there’s that Rachael Ray. She’s a quick one, always sayin’ “30-minute meals!” Like anyone got time to be that fast in the kitchen! But, gotta say, she makes things look easy. Even I could probably whip up some of her stuff, though I ain’t usin’ no fancy words like “EVOO.” Just call it olive oil, for cryin’ out loud! She’s got this bubbly personality, kinda like that girl next door, always cheerful and whatnot.
And don’t forget Julia Child! Bless her heart, she’s gone now, but she was somethin’ else. Tall lady, big voice, not afraid to get her hands dirty. She made French food, all that butter and cream. My arteries would probably clog just lookin’ at it, but man, it looked good! She was a real pioneer, they say. Paved the way for all these other gals on TV, I reckon. Showed everyone that women can cook just as good, maybe even better, than the menfolk.
Now, there’s a whole bunch of other gals cookin’ on TV these days. I seen some Korean lady, Cho Eun-hee, they say she’s a head chef, real fancy-pants. Then there’s Clare Smyth, don’t know much about her, but they say she’s good. And some others, Emma Bengtsson, Dominique Crenn, Nancy Silverton, names I can barely pronounce! They all got their own styles, their own fancy restaurants, I guess. It’s a whole different world from my kitchen, that’s for sure.
It’s good though, seein’ all these women makin’ a name for themselves. Back in my day, women were just supposed to stay in the kitchen, cookin’ for the family. Now they’re on TV, showin’ the whole world what they can do. They’re challengin’ things, they say. Good for them, I say! They’re teachin’ folks new things, new ways to cook, new things to eat. Even this old lady learns a thing or two now and then.
And the Food Network, they got a whole bunch of ’em. Larisa Alvarez, Sarah Holden, Emily Weinberger… I can’t keep track! They got classes and shows, always somethin’ cookin’. It’s a whole lotta cookin’ going on, I tell ya! It makes you wonder how they do it all. Must be tired, those ladies.

But you know what? At the end of the day, it ain’t about fancy names or fancy restaurants. It’s about the food. It’s about makin’ somethin’ good to eat, somethin’ that fills your belly and makes you feel good. And whether it’s a fancy Italian dish or a good ol’ pot roast, that’s what matters. That’s what I always say. Good food is good food, no matter who’s cookin’ it or where you eat it.
So, yeah, them female TV chefs, they’re somethin’ else. They’re shakin’ things up, they’re makin’ good food, and they’re showin’ the world that women can do anything they set their minds to. And that’s a good thing, I reckon.
