Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about some movies, movies like that “Training Day” flick. You know, the one with that Denzel fella? Yeah, that one. It’s a good movie, got a lot of action and whatnot, but sometimes you wanna watch somethin’ different, somethin’ kinda like it, but not exactly the same.

So, I heard folks sayin’ there’s a whole bunch of movies out there like “Training Day.” They say there’s like, 71 of ‘em! Dang, that’s a lot! I ain’t seen all them, mind you, but I seen a few, and I can tell ya, some are better than others. Some got that same kinda feel, you know? That gritty, down-to-earth kinda feel. Like life ain’t always sunshine and rainbows.
Now, some of these movies, they got that same thing goin’ on where you got a young fella, a rookie maybe, and he’s gotta learn the ropes from an older fella, a veteran. And that older fella, well, he ain’t always playin’ by the rules. He might be a bit crooked, you know? Like in “Training Day,” that Denzel character, he was a cop, but he wasn’t exactly on the up-and-up. He was doin’ some things he shouldn’t be doin’.
- One movie I heard about is called “End of Watch”. I ain’t seen it myself, but folks say it’s pretty good. Same director as “Training Day,” that David Ayer fella. They say it’s about cops too, and it’s kinda gritty and real. Like real life, you know? Not all sugar-coated and pretty.
- And then there’s this other movie, “Collateral.” Heard that one’s got a fella who’s kinda like that Denzel character, real smooth talkin’ and all, but he’s got a dark side. He’s manipulative, they say. Gets people to do what he wants. Sounds kinda scary, huh?
See, these movies, they ain’t just about cops and robbers and shootin’ and whatnot. They’re about people. About how people can be good and bad, all at the same time. About how sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. It’s like that fella in “Training Day,” you couldn’t really tell if he was a good guy or a bad guy, could ya? He was doin’ some bad things, but maybe he thought he was doin’ them for a good reason. Or maybe he was just lookin’ out for himself. Hard to say.
And some folks, they like movies with that kinda character, a charismatic fella who’s kinda shady. They like watchin’ him work, seein’ how he manipulates people, gets what he wants. It’s kinda like watchin’ a snake charmer, you know? You know the snake’s dangerous, but you can’t help but watch. It’s fascinatin’. Some other movies mentioned were on platforms like Netflix, iTunes, and Amazon. I ain’t got none of them fancy things, just the TV in my living room, but my grandson told me all about ‘em!
Now, I heard they were even gonna make another “Training Day” movie, a prequel they called it, about what happened before the first movie. But I don’t know if they ever did. Sometimes these Hollywood folks, they talk a lot but nothin’ ever happens. But if they did make it, I bet it’d be pretty good. I bet it’d be just as gritty and real as the first one.
So, if you liked “Training Day,” and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ similar, there’s a whole bunch of movies out there you can try. Just gotta do a little lookin’, ask around a bit. Maybe you’ll find somethin’ you like. Maybe you won’t. That’s the way it goes with movies, ain’t it? Sometimes you hit the jackpot, sometimes you get a dud. But hey, that’s life, right? You just gotta keep on tryin’ till you find somethin’ that suits ya.

And remember, just ‘cause a movie is like “Training Day” don’t mean it’s gonna be exactly the same. It might be about different people, in a different place, doin’ different things. But it’ll have that same kinda feel, that same kinda grit and realism. That same look at the kinda hard life some folks have to live. That’s what makes it a movie like “Training Day,” you see? It ain’t just about the plot, it’s about the feelin’ it gives ya. And for some of us old folks, that feelin’ reminds us of how the world really is. Not always pretty, but always real.
