Well now, if ya watched that movie Brave where that fiery-haired girl named Merida goes all wild, ridin’ her horse, shootin’ arrows and fightin’ with her mom, then you probably been wonderin’ what other movies are like it, right? Ya know, them kinda movies where there’s adventure, strong girls, and family at the heart of it all. Well, let me tell ya, there’s plenty more out there if you’re lookin’ to watch somethin’ similar.

First off, there’s that one called How to Train Your Dragon. Now, it ain’t exactly the same, but it sure does have that feel. You got this young boy, Hiccup, who don’t quite fit in with his Viking tribe, just like Merida didn’t quite fit with hers. Both of ’em got this bond with a wild creature, and they go off on adventures that change the way their people think. Hiccup don’t wanna be a fighter, just like Merida don’t wanna be all tied up with tradition. But in the end, they both end up changin’ the world, in their own way.
Another good one is A Dog’s Way Home. Now, this one’s a bit different ’cause it’s about a dog, but there’s still plenty of adventure and family love. This here dog, Bella, she goes through a whole mess of trouble to get back to her owner. There’s love, loyalty, and all sorts of stuff that’ll make you think of the bond between Merida and her family. Ain’t no dragon or princess, but you get the same feelin’ of determination and goin’ through the hardships.
If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ with a bit more humor, you might wanna check out Paddington. It’s a funny, heartwarmin’ film about a bear who ends up livin’ with a family in London. Sure, he’s not a princess or anythin’, but he’s got that same sort of innocence and curiosity about the world like Merida did. Plus, there’s plenty of adventure and family bonds, so it’s got a bit of that Brave flavor to it.
Then there’s Raya and the Last Dragon. It’s another animated movie that’s got a strong female lead. This time, it’s Raya, who’s out on a mission to save her world from some nasty monsters. She’s got all the strength and courage like Merida, though instead of arrows, she’s got a sword. Still, it’s all about trust, unity, and changin’ things for the better, just like Merida tried to do in her own story.
And don’t forget about The Princess and the Frog. Now, Tiana’s a bit different ’cause she’s not a princess at first, but she sure does work hard to get what she wants. She don’t have magic arrows or big old dragons, but she does have determination, and she ain’t afraid of goin’ through the hard times to get to where she wants to be, much like Merida had to do when she was fightin’ with her momma about her future.
Another one worth mentionin’ is Nimona, a more recent one that’s all about bein’ true to who you are, no matter what. It’s got a lot of twists and turns, and the main character’s a young girl who ain’t afraid of breakin’ the rules. Kinda reminds ya of how Merida broke all the rules in her own kingdom. So if ya like that wild, rebellious spirit, Nimona’s the one for ya.

Now, if you want somethin’ a little more fantasy-like, Wolfwalkers might just do the trick. This here movie’s about two girls who form a bond and discover the magic of wolves. It’s all about nature and family, and just like in Brave, it shows how a mother and daughter’s bond can be both strong and complex. There’s a lotta adventure and heart in this one, so you won’t be disappointed if you loved Brave.
Oh, and if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ with some real grit and a good ol’ fashioned fight, you could try Whisper of the Heart. It’s a bit of a different kind of adventure, but it’s got that same kinda heart and soul that’ll remind ya of Brave. This one’s about a young girl goin’ on a journey of self-discovery, kinda like how Merida had to figure out what she really wanted outta life.
So, you see, there’s plenty of movies that give ya that same feelin’ as Brave. Whether it’s about fierce girls, family, or just a good ol’ fashioned adventure, you won’t run out of options. The world’s full of stories like this, and each one brings somethin’ special to the table. So next time you’re lookin’ for a movie to watch, maybe one of these will hit the spot just like Merida’s wild adventure did.
