Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about something I tried out recently – checking out the Rolling Stone’s top drummers list. It was quite a ride, let me tell you.

So, first off, I grabbed my phone and opened up my browser. I typed in “Rolling Stone top drummers” and hit enter. Boom, a whole bunch of results popped up. I clicked on the first one that looked legit, and there it was, the list I was looking for.
I started scrolling through, and man, there were some names I totally expected, and some that were like, “Whoa, really?” You know? Like, John Bonham from Led Zeppelin was right there at the top. No surprises there, the guy was a beast on the drums. “Moby Dick,” anyone? That solo is legendary! I even found myself watching that “Moby Dick” solo from “The Song Remains The Same” again, it’s just that good.
And then there’s this Steve Gadd guy, I did a little digging on him. Turns out, he’s played on, like, a gazillion recordings. Over 630! People say he’s one of the best session musicians ever. I mean, being a session musician is a whole different ball game, gotta be versatile, you know?
- John Bonham (Led Zeppelin): Yeah, like I said, the dude’s a legend. It wouldn’t be a real list without him.
- Neil Peart: Now, I gotta admit, I didn’t know much about Rush before this. But I checked them out, and they’re pretty unique. Definitely need to listen to more of their stuff.
It was cool to see how drummers are sometimes these unsung heroes, you know? They’re at the back of the stage, keeping the whole thing together, but they don’t always get the spotlight. But this list, it gave them their due. Some of the greatest drummers who truly shaped the music we listen to are finally in the spotlight. It’s not just about how loud or fast they can play, it’s about the groove, the feel, the way they make the music come alive. After going through that list, I have a much better sense of who the top drummers are and why they deserve to be on this list.
So yeah, that was my little adventure with the Rolling Stone’s list. It was a good reminder that there’s so much awesome music out there, and so many talented people behind it. Made me wanna go practice my own drumming, to be honest! Haha, maybe I can be the top drummer in my own way.
