Well, let me tell ya ’bout them 80s action TV shows, the ones we used to watch after a long day of work, you know, when the sun went down and the chores were done.

The A-Team, oh yeah, those boys were somethin’ else. Always in trouble, always shootin’ and explodin’ stuff. Four fellas, framed for somethin’ they didn’t do, helpin’ folks out while the army chased ’em. Lots of guns, lots of noise, and Mr. T with all them gold chains. He was tough, I tell ya, tough as nails. They never really killed nobody, though. Just a lot of bang-bang and the bad guys always ended up in a ditch somewheres.
Then there was Magnum, P.I., that fella with the mustache and the Ferrari. Always wearin’ them Hawaiian shirts, livin’ the good life in Hawaii. He was a private eye, solvin’ mysteries and chasin’ bad guys. I liked watchin’ that show ’cause it was pretty, all that sunshine and the ocean. And that car, oh my, that red Ferrari was somethin’ special. He had some buddies, too, Higgins and T.C.. Higgins was always bossin’ him around and T.C. always had his helicopter ready to go.
- Lots of action, I tell ya.
- And pretty scenery too.
- Always somethin’ happening.
And don’t forget MacGyver. Now, he was a smart one. Didn’t need no guns, just his brain and whatever he could find in his pockets. A paperclip, a piece of gum, he could make anything outta nothin’. He was always gettin’ outta sticky situations, real clever-like. He’d stop a bomb with a hairpin, I swear. He never got hurt too bad, always managed to escape. That boy was resourceful, I tell ya what.
These shows, they were somethin’ else. Not like the stuff they got on TV now. Back then, it was about good guys and bad guys, plain and simple. And the good guys always won. You could count on it. They didn’t have no fancy special effects, but it didn’t matter. The stories were good, the actors were good, and it was just plain fun to watch.
We’d gather ’round the TV, the whole family, and just enjoy ourselves. It was a way to relax, to forget about the troubles of the day. And those shows, they made ya feel good. They made ya feel like maybe, just maybe, there were still heroes out there, fightin’ for what’s right. It was a different time, I tell ya. Simpler, maybe. But it was good. Real good.
We didn’t have no cable back then, just the regular channels. So when somethin’ good was on, you made sure you watched it. Cause you never knew when you’d get to see it again. And them 80s action shows, they were always somethin’ to look forward to. They were exciting, they were fun, and they were somethin’ we could all enjoy together.

I remember one time, during an episode of The A-Team, the electricity went out. We were right in the middle of a big shootout, too! We all groaned and moaned, but my husband, he went outside and fiddled with the fuse box, and wouldn’t ya know it, the power came back on just in time to see the bad guys gettin’ their comeuppance. We all cheered, like it was real. That’s how much we loved them shows. They made us feel like we were part of the action.
So yeah, them 80s action TV shows, they were somethin’ special. They don’t make ’em like that anymore, that’s for sure. But I still remember ’em fondly. They were a part of my life, a part of our family. And I’ll always be grateful for the memories they gave us.
They were just good, clean fun. Something you could watch with the whole family without worrying about anything. Nowadays, everything’s so complicated and violent. Back then, it was just about good versus evil, and the good guys always won. That’s what I liked about it.
Sometimes I wish they’d bring them shows back. But I guess times have changed. Still, I got my memories, and that’s enough. Them 80s action shows, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
