Okay, so I wanted to put together a list of movies for our youth group, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey! Here’s how it all went down.

Brainstorming and Getting Input
First, I started by just brainstorming on my own. I jotted down some movies that I personally enjoyed and thought might be suitable. You know, the classics, some newer stuff, trying to get a good mix.
But then, I realized I needed input from the youth group themselves! So, I created a simple poll online and shared it with them. I asked them to list their favorite movies, any genres they were particularly interested in, and any movies they definitely didn’t want to see.
Narrowing Down the List
The responses started pouring in, and wow, did they have diverse tastes! It was awesome to see their enthusiasm, but also a little overwhelming. I spent a good chunk of time going through all their suggestions.
I started to categorize the movies:
- Definitely appropriate: These were the no-brainers, movies that were clearly suitable in terms of content and themes.
- Maybe: These needed a bit more research. I had to check ratings, reviews, and maybe even watch a trailer or two to get a better feel for them.
- Definitely not: Some movies were just not going to work, either because of the rating or because the themes were too mature.
Checking Ratings and Reviews
This part took a while.I checked websites. I read parent reviews, and I even watched some trailers to get a sense of the overall tone of the movies.
Making the Final Selection
Finally, I had a solid list! I tried to balance different genres, include some classics, and also throw in a few newer movies that the youth group had suggested. And, most importantly, I only selected movies that are positive for them.

It was a bit of work, but totally worth it. I’m excited to see their reactions and have some great movie nights with the youth group!
