Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and today I finally got around to it: ranking my favorite Playboi Carti songs. This dude’s music is just… different. It’s like, you either get it or you don’t, you know? Anyway, I wanted to put my thoughts down and see how my list stacks up against other fans’. So, here’s how I went about it.
Getting Started: The Brain Dump
First, I just sat down and opened up Spotify. I went through Carti’s entire discography, from the early stuff to Whole Lotta Red, and just started adding songs to a new playlist. No real order at this point, just every track that I knew I vibed with. This took a while, he has quite a few songs.
The First Cut: Narrowing it Down
Once I had this giant playlist, I knew I had to start being more selective. I listened through the whole thing again, and this time, I was harsher. If a song didn’t immediately grab me, I took it out. This part was tough, ’cause there are so many Carti songs that are great in different ways. It felt like picking favorties between your children.
The Ranking: Gut Feeling Time
Now for the real challenge – actually putting them in order. I decided to go mostly on gut feeling. Like, which songs do I find myself going back to the most? Which ones get me the most hyped? Which ones just feel like peak Carti to me? I kept shuffling the playlist, comparing songs head-to-head, and slowly but surely, an order started to emerge.
Re-Listening and Tweaking.
I took some breaks, came back to it, and listened with fresh ears. There’s always that one song that you put too high or too low, and you only realize it after listening a few more times. I think I rearranged the middle of the list like ten times.
The Result
The end result is, there are no losers, it is a subjective list, and the important thing is to enjoy the songs that I like.
- Magnolia.
- R.I.P.
- Sky.
- New Tank.
- Long Time (Intro).
- Shoota (feat. Lil Uzi Vert).
- FlatBed Freestyle.
- Stop Breathing.
- No. 9
- Fell In Luv (feat. Bryson Tiller)
It was a blast and very funny to do, and i realized how much good songs he has.
