Okay, so I’ve been meaning to compile a list of awesome lawyer movies for ages. I finally got around to it today, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rabbit hole!

I started by, you know, just brainstorming. I jotted down all the lawyer movies I could think of off the top of my head. Stuff like “Legally Blonde” (classic!), “A Few Good Men” (so intense!), and “The Lincoln Lawyer” (love Matthew McConaughey). I used a simple notepad, nothing fancy.
Then, I hit up Google. Just typed in “great lawyer movies” and, bam! Tons of lists popped up. I didn’t just copy them, though. I went through each list, checking out the movie descriptions, trailers and read some reviews.
My Watchlist Criteria
- Intriguing plot: I wanted movies with courtroom drama, suspense, or a unique legal angle.
- Good reviews: I mainly checked the audience scores, figuring that’s a more reliable indicator of whether I’d actually enjoy it.
- A variety: I wanted to list comedies, dramas, maybe even a thriller or two.
I kept adding movies to my notepad list, noting down why I picked each one. For instance, “12 Angry Men” kept showing up, and people were raving about it, so it was a must. I have added some older classic ones like “To Kill a Mockingbird”.
I spent a good couple of hours on this, I must admit, I have watched some clips. I have also tried to filter movies that kept popping up in multiple lists.
Finally, I organized my list a bit. Grouped some of them by similar themes(like, courtroom dramas versus lighter legal comedies).
So, yeah, that’s basically how I spent my afternoon. Building my ultimate lawyer movie watchlist! I am excited to start working through it.
