Okay, so the other night, I decided to combine two of my favorite things: getting baked and watching horror movies. I’ve done this plenty of times before, but this time I wanted to really document the whole experience, you know, for science and stuff. Or maybe just for a good laugh later on.

First things first, I needed to pick the right movies. This wasn’t just any movie night; this was a cinematic journey into the depths of my own stoned paranoia. So I went online, did a little digging on some forums and blogs. I found some folks talking about how classics like “The Exorcist” were a must-watch. Someone even mentioned “Rosemary’s Baby” and called it a trip. There were also some newer ones that caught my eye, like “The Collector.” The idea of a dude breaking into houses and doing messed up stuff? Yeah, that sounded like prime material for a high night.
Then there were those lists—oh boy, the lists. Buzzfeed had one, and so did some other sites. I ended up with a mix of old and new, something like this:
- The Exorcist (1973)
- Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
- The Collector (2009)
- Army of Darkness
- Jason X
Prepping for the Experience
Now, no movie night, especially one like this, is complete without the right setup. I’m talking about mood lighting, comfy blankets, and of course, the snacks. Oh, and the most important part—the weed. I went with a nice indica strain, something to really get me glued to the couch and into the zone.
I started off with “The Exorcist.” Let me tell you, even though I’ve seen it before, watching it high was a whole different ball game. Every creak in my house, every shadow in the corner of the room, it all became part of the movie. I was jumping at everything, pausing to check if my doors were locked, you know, the usual stuff when you think a demon might pop out at any moment. I was sweating bullets, and I don’t even think it was the strain!
Next up was “Rosemary’s Baby.” This one was more of a slow burn, but the creepy factor was definitely there. The whole cult vibe, the weird neighbors, it all messed with my head. I kept thinking about my own neighbors, wondering if they were secretly plotting something. I even started side-eyeing my cat, thinking she might be in on it too. I know it sounds crazy, but hey, that’s what happens when you mix horror and weed!
By the time I got to “The Collector,” I was pretty deep into it. This movie is just messed up, high or not. A guy trapping people in their own homes and setting up all these sick games? Yeah, that’s nightmare fuel right there. I definitely had to pause it a few times, take some deep breaths, and remind myself it was just a movie. But man, did it feel real in those moments. I even double-checked the windows in my house were all locked and closed. I was losing it!

“Army of Darkness” and “Jason X” were a bit more on the fun side, but still had their moments. I mean, Jason in space? Come on, that’s just wild. It was a good way to come down from the intensity of the other movies, though. These two movies were the perfect chaser to calm down and not get a full blown panic attack.
Final Thoughts
So, would I recommend watching horror movies while high? It’s a tough call. On one hand, it definitely amplifies the experience, makes everything more intense and immersive. But on the other hand, it can also be a bit much, especially if you’re prone to paranoia. You might end up freaking yourself out over nothing. I know I did a couple of times! But hey, at least I have some good stories to tell, right? And some solid recommendations if you’re ever looking for a truly terrifying movie night. Just make sure you’ve got a good friend nearby, or at least a very understanding cat.
