Okay, so the other day I was browsing Netflix and I came across this movie called “The Wonder”. I didn’t really know anything about it, but the poster looked interesting and I’m a big fan of Florence Pugh. So I thought, why not give it a try? Man, what a ride! That movie really got to me. It was so intense and atmospheric, and Florence Pugh was absolutely amazing in it. I was totally captivated from beginning to end.
After finishing it, I found myself wanting more. You know, movies that give you that same kind of feeling – a bit dark, a bit mysterious, maybe historical, and definitely with strong female characters. So I started to do some digging.
First, I googled “movies like The Wonder” and got a bunch of lists, but to be honest most of them didn’t really hit the mark. Then I remembered seeing something about another movie Florence Pugh did a while back called “Lady Macbeth”. Apparently, it’s also directed by William Oldroyd. I added it to my list right away.

Then I stumbled upon this online forum where people were discussing “The Wonder”. Someone mentioned “The Lost Daughter”, which is also on Netflix. They said it had a similar vibe, even though it’s a completely different story. I quickly noted it down, thinking it might be worth checking out.

While I was scrolling through the forum, I noticed another post where someone was asking for recommendations for movies like “Wonder”, like the 2017 one with the boy and his face, and not “The Wonder” that stars Florence Pugh. There’s some confusion, but it doesn’t matter. I just took a look at the replies, and some of the suggestions seemed interesting, especially ones based on true stories like “Soul Surfer” and “Hacksaw Ridge”. They said they were pretty emotional and inspiring.

So, after a couple of hours of searching and reading, I ended up with a pretty decent list of movies to watch. I’ve already watched “Lady Macbeth” which was pretty good and I’m planning on watching “The Lost Daughter” next. I haven’t watched the other two yet, but I’m curious to see how they compare.
