OK, so I’ve been seeing a ton of DIY stuff lately, and soap making caught my eye. I decided to give it a go, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure! I chose to try out this “Marie Elyse Soape” thing because the name sounded fancy, and I wanted to make something that felt luxurious, you know?

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. Oils, lye, some essential oils for fragrance, and a bunch of kitchen gear. I felt like a mad scientist preparing for a big experiment! I made sure to wear gloves and goggles because safety first, right? No one wants a lye burn.
Next, I melted down the hard oils. I used coconut oil and shea butter because I heard they’re good for the skin. I measured everything out carefully, just like the instructions said. Then I added the liquid oils – olive oil and castor oil – to the melted ones. It was pretty cool to see it all come together.
Now for the scary part: mixing the lye with water. I did this very slowly and carefully, stirring constantly. The mixture got hot, which was a bit freaky, but I kept my cool. After it cooled down a bit, I combined it with the oils.
- I used a stick blender to mix everything until it reached a pudding-like consistency.
- Then, I stirred in some lavender essential oil because I love the smell.
- It made the whole kitchen smell amazing!
Once everything was mixed, I poured the mixture into a mold. I used a silicone loaf mold I found online. I tapped the mold on the counter to get rid of any air bubbles. Then, the waiting game began. I covered the mold and let it sit for 24 hours. It felt like forever!
The Big Reveal
The next day, I unmolded the soap, and it looked pretty good! I cut it into bars, which was super satisfying. Then, I trimmed off the edges to make them look nicer. Now, the bars have to cure for a few weeks, which is the hardest part because I’m so eager to try them out!
Overall, it was a fun and rewarding experience. I can’t wait to use my homemade “Marie Elyse Soape” and see how it feels on my skin. I might even make more and give them away as gifts. Who knows, maybe I’ll become the soap queen of my neighborhood!
Stay tuned to see my soap results and more DIY adventures in the future. It will be a lot of fun for sure.
