So I was digging through my old stuff and found a bunch of tapes from the ’80s. That got me thinking, man, there were some seriously cheesy songs back then. So I got this idea to make a list of the worst songs of the ’80s.
First off, I started by, you know, just racking my brain, trying to remember all those songs that made me cringe back in the day. I grabbed a pen and paper and started jotting down names as they came to me.
Then, I decided to hit up the internet, you know, to see what other folks thought were the worst. I just Googled “worst songs of the 80s” and, boy, did that open a can of worms. There were tons of lists and opinions out there. Some people think “Starship – ‘We Built This City’” is the worst one.
I also came across something about how some songs were considered bad because of the whole ’80s vibe – like the crazy fashion and hairstyles in music videos. Makes sense, I guess. Sometimes the music was totally overshadowed by the weird visuals.
- “We Built This City” by Starship – Yeah, it was pretty bad.
- “Right Here Waiting” by Richard Marx – This song seems to be on many lists.
I spent a good chunk of time reading through these lists and comparing them to my own. Made some changes, added some songs, took some out. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest.
After a while, I had a pretty solid list of about 20 songs. It was quite interesting to find that one article mentioned that “Friday” has been widely described as the worst song ever recorded. But it’s not an ’80s song, so I didn’t include it.
Finally, I typed it all up, you know, to make it look all nice and organized.
It was a fun little project, taking a trip down memory lane and all that. Reminded me of the good, the bad, and the definitely ugly of ’80s music.
It’s crazy how music can take you back, isn’t it? I even started humming some of those tunes, even though I was making fun of them. Oh well, guess every decade has its musical hits and misses.
The Worst of the Worst – My Final Thoughts
Putting this list together was a blast, and it really showed me how subjective music can be. What one person considers a tune, another might find totally unbearable. But that’s what makes music so cool, right? There’s something out there for everyone, even if it’s just to laugh at later.
I’m gonna keep digging through my old stuff. Who knows what other forgotten gems or musical nightmares I’ll uncover? Stay tuned, folks. This might just become a regular thing.
