Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some tunes about hell. You know, just for fun. I started by thinking, what are some of the most well-known songs about hell? Immediately, I remembered that classic from AC/DC, “Highway to Hell.” That’s a given, right? So, I jotted that one down first.

Then I thought, there’s gotta be more. I did a quick search on the internet for “best songs about hell” to see what other people think. I found a bunch of lists and articles. One of them talked about how “Highway to Hell” is about a famous stretch of road in Australia. Interesting! I didn’t know that. I also saw a song called “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure mentioned in one of the lists, even though it seemed more about heaven. I guess that could be included too, in a way.
I kept digging and saw another classic pop up a lot: “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash. That’s a good one, though it’s more of a metaphor, isn’t it? Still, it fits the theme, so I added it to my list. The same article mentioned how songs about the devil have been popular for decades. I guess it’s just a fascinating topic for people.
My List of Hell Songs:
- Highway to Hell – AC/DC
- Ring of Fire – Johnny Cash
Then I found another song called “Hell’s Bells”, also by AC/DC. So, I added that one in too.
Revised List of Hell Songs:
- Highway to Hell – AC/DC
- Ring of Fire – Johnny Cash
- Hell’s Bells – AC/DC
One article I read mentioned that the song “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath was an inspiration for some songs. Also, a band called Kraftwerk was mentioned as an influence for some of these songs. I don’t know much about them, but it was cool to see where these artists got their ideas. And, yeah, apparently there’s music in hell. Who knew?
So, after all that searching and thinking, I ended up with a pretty decent list of songs about hell. It was a fun little exercise. Maybe I’ll make a playlist out of them later!
