Yo, listen up, let’s talk about that show, Futurama. That cartoon with the one-eyed gal and the robot, you know? I seen all them episodes, some good, some not so good. I’m gonna tell ya which Futurama seasons are the best, just my two cents, you know?

That first bunch, when they was just gettin’ started, oh boy, that was somethin’. They was all over the place, goin’ to different planets, meetin’ all sorts of crazy critters. Reminds me of that time with I, Roommate, when that boy Fry was living with the robot. What a mess! And them folks, like that crazy professor, always yellin’ and screamin’ about somethin’ or other. You could tell they was findin’ their way, you know? That’s what makes them first Futurama seasons so darn special.
Then they had them, what you call ’em, Futurama movies? Four of ’em, I reckon. They was okay, kinda like one long episode, you know? They wasn’t bad, but they wasn’t the same as them regular episodes neither. Some folks liked ’em, some didn’t. Me, I thought they was alright. They had some good jokes in ’em, I remember that much. The robot, Bender, he was always gettin’ into trouble. He’s a real hoot, that one.
- First few Futurama seasons, they was good, real good.
- Then them Futurama movies, they was okay.
- After that, it kinda went downhill, if you ask me.
Now, why they stopped makin’ Futurama the first time, I heard it was ’cause of money. Ain’t that always the way? They said it was too expensive, and not enough folks was watchin’. Like that time we tried to sell our prize-winnin’ hog, but nobody wanted to pay what he was worth. Same kinda thing, I guess. They just didn’t see the value in it, ya know? It’s a shame too, ’cause it was a good show.
Then that other channel, Comedy Central, they picked it up. They liked Futurama, I guess. They aired them old episodes, and folks started watchin’ again. It’s like findin’ an old pair of shoes you thought you lost, and they still fit just right. They knew there was more life in it, and they are right. But it’s not the same, you know? It’s changed.
And that episode, A Fishful of Dollars, that was a funny one. That Fry, he’s always gettin’ into some kinda trouble. Reminds me of my nephew, always messin’ somethin’ up. That’s what I like about that show, it’s got somethin’ for everyone. You got your robots, your aliens, your spaceships, your crazy scientists, and the professor is one of them. What more could you ask for?
But, them later Futurama seasons, after they brought it back? Eh, they wasn’t as good. It’s like they tried too hard, you know? Like when you add too much salt to the stew, it just ain’t the same. They had some good moments, but it just didn’t have that same spark as before. They talked about them newfangled things, like them, uh, NFTs and them chatbots. I don’t know nothin’ about all that, but it just didn’t seem to fit, you know? Like wearin’ your Sunday best to go work in the garden. Just ain’t right.

I heard some folks sayin’ that the new Futurama season is good. They say it’s got them 31st-century shenanigans and it’s talkin’ about things happenin’ today, but in a funny way. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just gettin’ old, but it just ain’t the same Futurama to me. It’s like a cover band, you know? They can play the songs, but it ain’t the real thing. It’s all about the money, right? That’s why they canceled Futurama.
They split them Futurama seasons up, too. Said they made it one way, but then that other company, Fox, they wanted it another way. So they chopped it all up. Like cuttin’ up a quilt and sewin’ it back together all wrong. It’s still a quilt, but it ain’t the same one you started with, and it’s surely not what the Futurama creators wanted.
So, if you ask me, them first few Futurama seasons, those are the best. They’re like a good home-cooked meal, made with love and a little bit of chaos. The Futurama movies is acceptable. The rest? Well, they’re like store-bought pie. They might look pretty, but they just don’t taste the same. That’s my take on it, anyway. You can take it or leave it. I’m just an old lady, what do I know? But I know what I like, and I like them old Futurama seasons the best. Nothing beats the classic, nothing. You can’t deny that. And that’s the truth, so help me.
